ES 2015 Starter Predictions and Grades

I hope my list changes as the preseason evolves, not due to injury, but breakout. I want some people to flash and overcome. Here's what I want to see as our lineup on opening day as of this minute. Feel free to put down your own list and tear apart mine.  I also want to add a grade/potential grade just to mark how good we are at that position.

Forgive name misspellings in advance :)

QB Robert Griffin III  (C/A)

I think Griffin is better right now then most give him credit for. His woes are a combination of injuries and performance, but he was also strongly impacted by line play, drops, and play calling. So, I'm grading him today as a C+, but still think he could be the A we dreamed of (though I think the chance of him realizing that potential is small)

RB Alfred Morris (B/B+)

WR Desean Jackson (B+/A-)

WR Pierre Garcon (B/A-)

WR Ryan Grant (__/C+)  but probably will be Andre Roberts (D/B) or Jamison Crowder (__/B). This one is a pure underdog/feel good story pick

TE Jordan Reed (C/B)

LT Trent Williams (B/A-)

LG Arie Kouandijo (__/C+),  but probably will be Shuan Lavaou (D/C)

C Kory Litchensteiger  (C/C+)

RG Spenser Long (__/B)

RT Brandon Scherff (__/B+)

CB Bashaud Breeland (C+/B)

CB Chris Culliver (B/B+)

S Dashon Goldshon (D/C)

S Jeron Johnson/Duke Ihenacho (_/C)

LB Ryan Kerrigan (B+/B+)

LB Keenan Robinson (C/ B)

LB Will Compton (C-/C+) but probably will be Perry Riley (D/C+)

LB Trent Murphy (C/B-)

NT Terrance Knighton (B/B+)

DE Stephen Paea (B/B)

DE Chris Baker (C+/B-), but probably will be Jason Hatcher (C/B+)

PK Kai Forbath (B-/B)

P Tress Way (B/B+)

I suspect many of my grades are homer high, but there you have it. What do you see? I was hoping to have a few more dark horses emerge, but those are my starters for now. I really don't expect Grant to emerge as the third receiver, but I think it'd be great if it happens. More, I think he could grow into the job nicely esp as one of those guys who always finds a hole in the zone and just makes things happen.

Nice idea, although I've got a feeling that Griffins' grade will get argued over the most. For the most part I agree with your grades. The ones I would change;

QB Robert Griffin III (C-/A)

TE Jordan Reed (C/A)

C Kory Lichtensteiger (C+/B)

LB Keenan Robinson (B-/A)

PK Kai Forbath (B/B+)

You missed out the D-Line so;

DE Jason Hatcher (C+/B)

NT Terrance Knighton (_/B+)

DE Stephen Paea (_/B+)

I definitely think that both Lavauo and Perry will start and to be honest I don't have a clue how the DBs will pan out. Just to finish on a little pedantic note, you got Chris Culliver's name wrong.

I can dig your grades. Yeah, I realized the DL slip after I hit post and added it. Interesting that you only gave potential grades to Knighton and Paea.

I gave Reed the B in potential just because I don't think he has great speed and don't see him evolving into anything other than an adequate blocker.

Yeah, see them now. I misunderstood and thought they were grades playing for us. I agree with you and give them both a B.

I've been a bit of a fan of Paea ever since he set the Combine record in the bench (49!). I realise that doesn't mean he will be a good player, but wow.

I really believe that if Reed can stay healthy, he can be one of the best. Time will tell.

I'm really anxious to see how Keenan Robinson plays this year. I think he was very, very underrated by the national media last year and I think he will continue to get better. It seemed like he was in on every play last season.

Yeah I firmly believe if he stays healthy Keenan Robinson is a pro-bowl level talent.

I think there's only 3 genuine position battles.

Ihenacho v Johnson.

Roberts v Grant v Crowder (Roberts a big favourite for the job though)

Trent Murphy v Preston Smith

The rest pick themselves. Hall v Breeland for the CB2 position might develop into something but Hall has to prove himself healthy first. Riley, Lauvao and Hatcher are pretty much guaranteed starters imo.

I think that Riley may get unseated. In a passing league his weaknesses are just too big. He's not bad against the run, but he just gets torched by tight ends and fails in coverage too often.

Really pretty strange that we all think the roster is this set considering it went 3-13 followed by 4-12.

Mind you, we're considering it set having already swapped out at least 5 starters.

Figured, I should change my prediction. Already two changes less than a week in.

LB Ryan Kerrigan (B+/B+)

LB Keenan Robinson (C/  B)

LB Will Compton (C-/C+) but probably will be Perry Riley (D/C+)

LB Trent Murphy (C/B-)  Junior Gallete (B/B+)

CB Bashaud Breeland (C+/B) Deangelo Hall (B-/B)

CB Chris Culliver (B/B+)
