stupidsuck
I'm surprised that nobody seemed to remember these stories about Lloyd over the last few years. I obviously remember the amazing catches but you should remember these stories before falling in love with Lloyd. Beasley criticizes 49ers' young receivers again http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=1915661 Beasley seems to target Lloyd with comments http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1915734 Barlow joins criticism of Lloyd http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=1916433 Lloyd catches passes and criticism with Niners http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=2232933 now I'm not saying he'd be terrible, in fact I'd like the guy on the team as the #2 (just not at such a high cost of a #1 pick). But I'm sure these are things that the staff has and will look at.
skinswin
If Gibbs says that he should be acquired, then I trust that Gibbs has done his homework so I'm going with Lloyd.
CPstretch
i personally do not think lloyd is what we need. he is only 6 foot and weighs well under 200 pounds. he is just a lanky guy, not a big, strong, physical receiver like we need. i don't think he is worthy of a first round pick
elkabong82
I'm a little wary of the words of a couple of average players. Did any of the coaches criticze Lloyd? Also, it is kind of hard to be happy and desiring when you are on a terrible team like the 49ers. It would be much easier to be commited when you are on a great team like the Skins, IMO. chef8181
We wouldn't be giving up a first rounbd pick for him. Which we don't have this year anyway. He should be fine. After my questing of getting Santana, I'll put my full trust in Gibbs.
moondog
I'd love to have a guy like Lloyd. He is an excellent receiver, and sometimes you have to give someone a chance to prove themselves off the field. He's no TO and his problems with the team seemed very minor and the coach said he works hard. I don't see the 49ers giving him up easily, he's their one real bright star as they work their way back up...not that they seem to be doing that though. I'd be willing to get him if the FO can work out a deal that doesnt involve us losing lots of draft picks or anything, I just don't see us being able to get a deal like that. Truant
It would have been a lot easier to draft him since he slid all the way to the 4th round. He'd be a great player, but I'd rather wait a year before getting him and save the package of picks.
RedzoneHunter
These types of complaints are very common when players get frustrated being on losing teams, but it's also the result of having just lost the services of T.O., who we know is notorious for busting up team chemistry. It should be noted, too, that all of the 49er's receivers were very young then on a team that was struggling to find it's identity.
Lil Kenzo
If Gibbs says that he should be acquired, then I trust that Gibbs has done his homework so I'm going with Lloyd. I agree. I personally think that there are better options out there other then Lloyd. But what Gibbs says goes and I trust him.
da#1skinsfan
Wait a second...in one of those links, Lloyd gets criticized for saying the Niners are a better team without TO. So his teammates blast him and say he shouldnt say that, he needs to step it up, basically criticize him for standing behind his team and take direct shots at his abilities. And what does the guy do? Instead of fighting back, he says "were all frustrated, thats all it is" Sounds like a pretty damn impressive way to handle a situation for a young guy...especially a WR as weve come to learn. "Last season, fullback Fred Beasley and running back Kevan Barlow both ripped Lloyd for his extensive jewelry collection, braided hair and seeming aloofness." Sounds to me like hes not the problem. Love_Them_Dirtbags
You guys are all getting duped. We are not getting Brandon Lloyd. We always do our FA signings in total secrecy, and then you hear about these "decoy" / fake deals as a distraction. C'mon, wake up and smell the coffee. You should be able to recognize Snyder's and Gibbs' patterns by now!
D'Pablo
So... the baggage of Brandon Lloyd is that he doesn't like TO's cancerous attitudes toward the team mentality, enjoys the fancy lifestyle of a professional athlete, and doesn't criticize his teammates despite being attacked himself? Neither Beasley nor Barlow can attest to Lloyd's desire to win, so the rest of the criticism geared towards him comes across much like the previously stated question. Honestly, I kind of want this guy more now.
bertoskins
the potential was there, he only needs to be consistent and motivated, so Gibbs might correct those, so we do have a boldin-clone + moss in our line up
NEMO
We have enough leadership on this team (coaches and players alike) to keep any player in line. I like loyd, and we have seen him play this year,,, so something must have jumped out at him.. Maybe saunders wants him.

We need a receiver who gets open, catches the ball, and doesn't fumble. Period, dot, end of discussion. All that matters is production.
GrimReefa
Bandon Lloyd is 24 years old! He isn't even as good as he is going to be, not by a darn sight. If the Redskins get ahold of this guy, he is going to make us happy for a long, long time.

FS36
We wouldn't be giving up a first rounbd pick for him. And go figure? You know a way around the rules of tenders to RFAs? If so, enlighten me.
bobzmuda
Heh. One of those articles that you linked was his teammates slamming him for saying the 49ers might be better off without TO. Lloyd's probably smarter than you think.
TradeTheBeal!
I'm sure there is plenty of criticism to go around in San Fran right now so I would take all that with a grain of salt. One things for sure, the kid can play! Why not take a chance if the price is right...all this team needs is a few more touchdowns!
da#1skinsfan
And go figure? You know a way around the rules of tenders to RFAs? If so, enlighten me. Its called negotiation. Everything is negotiable. 49ers tender Lloyd. Lloyd says I dont want to play here, I want to sign elsewhere. Skins offer Lloyd money. Lloyd says I want to play for the Skins, not for the niners. Niners say OK give me a 1st rounder. Skins say, Ill give you a 4th, or you can keep your disgruntled receiver. He wants us, we want him, youre lucky you get a 4th for nothing. They say OK. lovetoaster
I do not think there is any baggage anymore. He had a rocky start to his career, but that happens with most players as they adjust. He did nothing but make plays for a bad team last year and he would be a pheominal addition for the Skins. As long as we do not have to give up too much, get the deal done. powerANDgut
From what I read...LLoyd took the high road and didn't bad mouth the "veteran" players. The ones who bad mouth him specifically in the paper. Beasley? Who the hell listens to the fullback on a 1-6 team for inspiration? Some leader to attack the young players for their hair style and apparell. Kevin Barlow is the biggest hypocrite on the 49ers. He barely rushed for a 1,000 yards, got a big contract and then was a complete bust after that. He even went so far as to bash his ENTIRE offensive line in the newspaper. The guys that are supposed to open up holes, he bashes. He critisized a player for not wanting TO's cancerous attitude on the team and has the nerve to say you should be established or make the pro bowl to say such things? Shouldn't HE be established or make the pro bowl to be degrading this player in the media? San Fran has fallen to the depths I never thought possible. They fought AZ for last place the past two years for christ sake...
