He knew that hiring an agent would make him inelegible to play. The NCAA should not bend its rules. He could have declared for the draft and not hired an agent until after the draft. He gave up eligibility by hiring an agent. He can play in the arena league or Canada if the ruling stands and he is declared ineligible for the supplemental draft. Williams lost eligibility to play in the NCAA once he hired an agent. He could have declared for the draft without hiring an agent, but he opted to take the gamble.
