OT Jordan career low

Yeah a blowout. Jordan attributed it to the dogfight in Charlotte and the lengthy procedures coupled with the flight. They were dog tired and got dogged.

IMO, missing Hamilton will yield more results like this, since all a team has to basically do is focus on Jordan, because Hamilton's scoring kept opposing defenses honest.

In a strange twist, prior to last night's game, Washington gave Jordan his worst first half ever, as a Bull.

When he comes back, I believe they will do more damage than most might think. However, getting past Boston, Indiana, Philadelphia, San Antonio, LA, Toronto, Minnesota, etc. will still be a serious challenge.

The team looked like they were tired considering how they were getting beat on transition baskets after made shots.

All they had to do was defend the inbound pass to give their team a lil more time to get back.

Hopefully Jordan will have some help next game from Alexander or T Lue which would help MJ when he rebounds from this game.

give em a break. They just took 9 in a row. 2 loses in a row isn't a big deal. They are still very much in a position for to make the post season. They just need Rip back and healthy...BAD. This is a character team.

One lousy game and "the ride is over"? S57, you're letting your Jordan-hating affect your judgement smile.gif. This was bound to happen sometime, given the combination of injuries and uninspired play from the team in general (as Collins said, the team relapsed into the style of play that they had during the eight-game losing streak). Once Rip and Laettner come back, the team will be fine. Fortunately, they're going into a slow stretch in their schedule over the next few weeks.

On a Wizards-related subject, Steve Czaban made the dumbest suggestion I've heard from him yet, and that's saying something. The other day on WTEM's "Sports Reporters", he stated that the Wizards should "bite the bullet right now" and trade Brendan Haywood to the Bulls for Charles Oakley. I guess The Rasheed Wallace and Chris Webber trades weren't enough for this knucklehead. Fortunately, everyone else in the studio was all over him. Even Andy Pollin, known to be a bit of a goofball himself on occasion, said, "What next? You wanna see what Bill Walton's got left?" laugh.gif

Incredible, Fitz. Haywood's the team's best hope in the middle (Kwame's years away). They definitely need to lose Laettner and Jahidi White - trade 'em for some kid who can pull down a board or two.

In the short term, they have to find some folks who can hit an open mid-range j when MJ's drawing the double team. I thought Alexander would be the guy, but he's really regressed.

Etan Thomas is playing a bit better, though. And you gotta love that wierd Popeye Jones. He's about as blue-collar as it comes.

For the Duke haters...say what you will, but Shane Battier is having a good rookie season for the Grizzlies. They are a bad team, no doubt about it. But Battier and Pau Gasol aren't a bad 1-2 punch. Had the Wizards taken either of those guys rather than Kwame, they'd be in serious contention.

The Bullets are going to be a pretty good team in a year or so. This year and anything we get is gravy. I was surprised at how poorly this team played when it was losing. When it was winning, I was surprised because I didn't expect that consistency. Jordan had a bad game. He's not the best player in basketball right now. But, the ride is not over for a 20+-point a game scorer.

This Bullet team has cap room to make a solidifying move in the next year or two, with an eye toward Duncan in a couple of seasons smile.gif. I thought if Jordan was the best player of all time still, this team could win 45 games or so, with 50 a possibility had they gotten a guy like Anthony Mason to give some versatility and toughness.

Jordan is not the best player in the game and I do not believe this team will hit 45 wins, but, 35 looks mighty within reach at times, and this team has a future. Boswell had it right the other day talking about the Bullets saying, "Come for Jordan. Stay for the future of the team."

That's what it's about. And, Jordan, being Jordan, has this team playing in front of capacity crowds against opponents that are playing hyped up to take Jordan down. This team is going to be very tough once the younger players get a little time under their belts.

bottom line #1: The Wizards won 19 games last year in 82 tries, this year they have 14 wins in 28 tries. smile.gif

bottom line #2: Wizards are playing without their leading scorer and teams in the watered down NBA of today don't win without their best players. Just check out the Sixers record without Iverson or the Lakers loss to Golden State without Shaq. Because of the limited rosters injuries in the NBA, unlike MLB or the NFL, are usually fatal if season-ending and quite disruptive if of an intermdiate duration, say 1-2 months.

Teams simply don't have the quality benches that NBA squads did 15-20 years ago when there were fewer teams and the cap was more flexible. smile.gif

well said Bulldog.

wise beyond your years.

The East is WEAK in the NBA and the Wizards could make a run to the 2nd round of the playoffs which would be a huge success for them. Not to mention the $$ they have next year to bring in great players.

who is a fa in the NBA after this year?

Yea sorry I was tired last night and still have to hear at work from a few select people he is the greatest and made that stupid post, that was so unlike me.

What MJ is doing in Washington is great for DC, he is takinga backseat to better the team. So I take my hat off to him. I still will never like him but he has my respect.

I just hope somebody can beat the Lakers this year.

I am a 76ers fan and get beat on a lot because Iverson hit like 1 of every 100 shots.

I wish the Wizards well, unless they are playing the 6erslaugh.gif

Obviously Czaban has either a drinking problem or is on crack if he made a statement like that.

Kwame is 2 years away from being a solid power forward. He is still expected to grow into a 7'1 PF in three years and while people want to compare him to Kevin Garnett its looking more like he may become more of a Tim Duncan if MJ has anything to do with it.

Haywood is going to be the best Center in the East in another year if he stays consistent and improves on his post game offensively.

2k2

We will have a more polished Center a power forward who went to offseason big man school and a 6'7 shooting guard with more muscle.

The needs are going only be a Small Forward and a quick point guard thats a scoring threat with size.

Too bad we wont win the Williams lottery this year.

That's a shame Skins57 and we all know I've been down those emotional and being tired roller coasters. I guess my misguided posts are legendary laugh.gif

Anywho, you just go on believing in that team of yours and I'll still respect you just the same, Iverson or no Iverson.

At least you have a team to root for. I guess a guy in Montana or Idaho or Oklahoma has to pick what's available, but has no homer bound team. No biggie. The world is closer and so are we.

I am guessing Hamilton's on schedule to be back in 1 1/2 to 2 weeks earlier maybe. 2 is stretching it, but the latter part of that is not really, since you can spot duty him for long range shots and testing the feel away from being in the paint or against a very physical team. That way they could see if he needs to wait even longer, instead of making a critical mistake of actually bringing all the way back too quick. Testing it in a "real" game, is the only way to tell. Practice just doesn't have the same feel or intensuity.

Wow...Jordan bounces back tonight with a 51 point performance. Yes, he is not quite the Jordan of old but one cannot question his heart and the pride he takes in playing the game. Tonight was a clearly a statement.
