jimster
Is there a new rule that allows teams to talk to assistants with other teams that are in the play-offs before their seasons are over? I thought you weren't allowed to. I heard the Giants already talked to Lovie Smith and Atlanta is too. If so we need to send Redskins 1 to New England pronto. bulldog
Didn't the league relax that rule so as to allow more capable assistants, especially African-American assistants, to be able to interview and get shots at HC jobs? I remember a couple of years ago Marvin Lewis blamed not getting a HC job on the fact he couldn't interview until the playoffs were over and by then teams had chosen other candidates. codeorama
Why would we want the defensive coordinator of the Pats when Belichick is the defensive guru? I don't care what anyone tries to say, there's no way Belichick is actually letting someone else design their defenses. If Belichick is saying that, it's to try to help him get a head coaching job. Stone Cold
i think the rule is that you can talk to them if you're offering a promotion...not a lateral move. i don't think you can actually hire them before their season has ended, but you can interview for a promotion oppurtunity. or i can be way off here...just a thought
bubba9497
You have to get permission from the team, and I believe you have to go to them. I have heard that Crennel, and Wies already have interviews set up this week.
bulldog
I think you are correct. Code, if you don't like Crenel, how about Weis or Lovie Smith? How about Gary Kubiak in Denver? There are some qualified assistants out there regardless of what John Clayton says about the Skins inability to land anyone of note.
Corvidae
I'm in the St. Louis area, and the news here is that Lovie Smith hasn't been talked to yet. The Falcons have simply faxed the Rams with a request for permission to talk to him after the playoffs are over.
