It would convince people to play defense first to get their offense a short field This would be the only change to OT I wouldn't mind seeing. They should cut down the commercials by 10+ minutes instead of the game clock by 5.
Diehard Otis
I thought Sudden Death Overtime was perfect. Leave that "let's-be-fair-and-give-everyone-a-chance" stuff to the boys clubs. The intensity of Sudden Death was incredible! Bring that back with 4th Quarter rules. That will end the multiple games ending in a tie nonsense. pjfootballer
I was just thinking about this. There used to not be any OT in the NFL. It wasn't unusual from the 1970s on back, for a team to have a tie or even multiple ties. Then the NFL instituted OT to make sure that there were more W's and L's and less T's. So with the shortened OT, I'm thinking we'll start seeing more ties, unless a coach is bold enough in OT to go for 2 (if it comes down to that). What do you think?
