hail2skins
Saw an article which listed the 5 teams with the most wins on Monday Night Football. Granted, MNF hasn't been the only primetime game in a long time and by now has ceded tjhe "feature primetime game" status to SNF, but thought it was interesting. The number of wins a team has of course would largely depend on how many times the team has been on MNF, so it wasn't too surprising to see the 49ers, Cowboys, Steelers, Raiders, and Dolphins leading the list. The article provided a link to Pro Football Reference which has the Redskins tied for 9th with 28 MNF wins since the series started in 1970. The tidbit that struck me was the article lead off indicating that the Steelers have won 17 straight MNF home games since 1992, which equates to the post Chuck Noll era. The Redskins have also played 17 home MNF games during that time. The record.......4-13, including 2-13 at FedEx. The Steelers have played significantly more MNF road games since the '92 season, going 8-11 in them, while the Skins have gone 4-7 in their MNF road games. Anyway, just another reminder of how FedEx has been a MNF house of horrors. Thought this was more appropriate for ATN. http://www.cheatsheet.com/sports/which-5-nfl-teams-have-won-the-most-monday-night-football-games.html/
Warhead36
Yep, I hope we NEVER play a home game on MNF ever again. I know we beat the Giants in 2012, but besides that we have not only lost but have routinely been blown out at home. On the road we're actually half decent on MNF. hail2skins
That was Sunday night Yep. Since '97 when FedEx opened, I have the Skins at 4-6-1 for SNF home games, 2-1 for Thursday night home games, and 0-2 for Saturday night home games (last year's Saturday win over Philly was a 4:30 start). scyber
# of wins is a strange stat since it would inevitably favor the older teams. Winning percentage is far more interesting: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/tgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=combined&year_min=1970&year_max=2014&game_type=R&playoff_round=&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&week_num_min=0&week_num_max=99&game_day_of_week=2&game_time=&time_zone=&game_location=&surface=&roof=&stadium_id=&temperature_gtlt=lt&temperature=&game_result=&overtime=&league_id=&team_id=&team_conf_id=&team_div_id=&opp_id=&opp_conf_id=&opp_div_id=&team_off_scheme=&team_def_align=&opp_off_scheme=&opp_def_align=&conference_game=&division_game=&tm_is_playoff=&opp_is_playoff=&tm_is_winning=&opp_is_winning=&tm_scored_first=&tm_led=&tm_trailed=&tm_won_toss=&c1stat=&c1comp=gt&c1val=&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5comp=&c5gtlt=lt&c6mult=1.0&c6comp=&order_by=game_date#stats::8 Which shows a far more accurate picture of how bad MNF games have been to both the Giants and Washington. hail2skins
Good point Scyber. I thought it was interesting that Seattle has been on MNF 11 more times than Tampa since both teams entered the league close to 40 years ago. And Houston's first MNF appearance was 2008, even though they entered the league in 2002 (wasn't their first ever game on SNF against the Cowboys?). Detroit has been on a whopping 29 times since 1970.......which at least beats the Cardinals (23) in the same timeframe!

hail2skins
Quote from the USA article that Roanoker posted: "For a halfway-decent NFL franchise to only win 11% of any type of home games is simply mind-boggling." That's just it........this has NOT been a halfway-decent NFL franchise during this timeframe.
