Bacon
Not that this is a surprise or anything. Interscope decided to push To Pimp a Butterfly out tonight, a week ahead of schedule. No reviews yet, but twitter is ablaze. If you have liked his previous work, Flying Lotus, D'Angelo or any number of jazz legends (Max Roach comes to mind for me), you'll love this album. It flows beautifully and every track feels as essential as the last, but the two singles are: and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AhXSoKa8xw But the album is so much more than either of those when heard in full. It's much more heavily jazz and funk influenced then either of these tracks imply. BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93
**** was dope. A funk album in 2015. Who would have thought that? My generation is gonna hate because it's different from GKMC, but I love it. So refreshing from 98% of the popular acts in hip hop today And damn, when was the last time an album really made you feel proud about your skin color? So empowering. Once again, it's just so different from every other mainstream album that's come on (outside of maybe J Cole). I love my mindless ratchet music but stuff like this is what makes the genre great
Bacon
It is a very empowering record. A lot of people were fully expecting something not only pro-black but anti-white based on The Blacker The Berry and that's not the case at all. The album is a very realistic, even-handed picture of African American life. And it's of course incredibly refreshing to hear an artist that is fronting some truly skilled live instrumentation. This album is a poke in the eye to everyone that argues against the musical worth and originality of the genre.
