RETRACTION: Why Hasn't Our Defense Improved?

Josh Wilson and Deangelo hall are better cornerbacks than Ike Taylor and Bryant McFadden. Imagine Ike Taylor and Bryant McFadden playing on the 2012 redskins defense with absolutely zero pass rush? They would be even more exposed than Wilson and Hall were. lol

Keenan Lewis my friend... Trumps our secondary... Don't forget him when talking about him, Ryan Clark, Polamalu, etc.

The key to the pass rush is still going to be what kind of push Cofield and Bowen push can get up the middle of the pocket.

We've seen Orakpo and Kerrigan rush from the end positions with success, the problem is, when the middle of the pocket is not collapsed, a lot of the times all a QB has to do to beat that kind of end pressure is step up into the pocket and the end pressure goes right around them, and then a completion is made.

Kerrigan and Rak will still get a good amount of Sacks, but Pass rush isn't merely about sacks.  Disrupting the QB is just as important and more important than sacks themselves because if the QB is being driven backwards then two things are happening to go against him, one the QB is being driven into the pressure on the edges and two, it is taking away his ability to step into his throws all together and gets them to try to escape east to west which usually means a sack or a very limited scramble of 1-2 yards.

Keenan Lewis? I respectfully disagree, do you realize he was playing with arguably the greatest defensive coordinator in NFL history? Do you realize how skewed his metrics are when he played with a fierce pass rush and run stopping D like pittsburgh? You can be mediocre and play for the steelers D and you'll automatically look good.

Keenan Lewis now plays for the saints you'll see him get exposed now that he won't have Dick LeBeau and the rest of the steeler front 7 studs they had on defense. Deangelo Hall and Josh Wilson are better than the steelers corners, now Ryan Clark and Polamalu are WAYYYYYYYYY better than any safety we have on our roster. lol

According to football outsiders, Hall rated 87th against the pass, Wilson 81st.  Taylor, meanwhile, was 14th and Lewis was 15th.  That's not even remotely close, meanwhile the Steelers "fierce" pass rush had 5 more sacks than we had last year.  They aren't what they used to be, and yet they still ranked as the top defense against the pass.

Their safeties are much better than ours, but I think it's silly to think their corners are worse than ours.  Certainly they don't have the fanfare of Hall, but there is a reason professional football minds wouldn't pay Hall more than $1.25 mil a year, though he was on the market for almost a month, whereas Lewis is making 4 times as much and was snatched up 5 days after free agency opened up.
