Uptown Skins
You're right! 97 is a season that I'd love to keep in the back of my mind!

That season, we needed one friggin victory to make the playoffs and we couldn't get it. We were 8-7-1. That was the season the Crabtown Ravens came down and beat us. That was the season that Gus slammed his head into the wall, thus putting himself out for the rest of the season. That was the season that Westbrook slams his helmet on a potential game-winning drive(we ended up tied that game I think). I think Jeff Hostetler was our QB after Gus.

[ March 29, 2002, 07:09 AM: Message edited by: FunBunch2FunNGun ]
Guest fuji869
The Cardinals Game in 1997 was the Home Opener. We plaied the first two games on the road that season @ Carolina and @ Pittsburgh.

quote:
That was the season the Crabtown Ravens came down and beat us. joe
Yes, but the opener against Arizona was a great game. Being the first game at FedEx, I went with a sceptical, but open mind. Happily, I was not one of those stuck in traffic until halftime, although I remember leaving very early for the game and barely making the kickoff. No tailgating that day.

When Westbrook caught the pass, I remember thinking that, had it been at RFK I would not have seen the reception because my seats there were pretty low and the portion of the endzone in which Westbrook landed after the catch would have been blocked from my view. Plus I got to see the catch over and over on the big screen. So I thought, at that time, "Hey, this new stadium is not so bad."

I have nice memories from that game, to bad the season went sour. That year was when I decided that Turner had to go. Larry
I was a little disapointed in the opening being against Az. I recall hearing that the first and last games at RFK were against Dallas, and wanted to keep that tradition alive.
