tibbidoe Posted September 5, 2011 Share Posted September 5, 2011 This is going to come off as harsh toward a generation of players that I grew up idolizing, but if the organization doesn't retire a jersey number, it should be available. Having said that, I don't think numbers should be retired at all. I think organizations should retire jerseys so that "Baugh 33" or "Green 28" is forever honored, but the number itself shouldn't be significant. Completely agree, aside from the "Baugh 33". The number should stay retired, pretty much all others of note should be retired jerseys only. BUT... the only reason I'd be okay with officially retiring #21 (and not 28/44/81) is because of how the player's time with the team ended. The others got to start and finish their careers as they should have. ST didn't get to. Different circumstances, different outlook on that number to me.
