How good is our defense? Better than our yards/game suggest

Our defense is nowhere near a top 10 defense. If we were running a 4-3, it probably would be though. Our players are better suited for ia 4-3, but Hazlett is doing a great job getting the guys to play hard and be motivated. We did play more 4-3 fronts in the last game, and played better defensively as a result. More turnovers, alot of stops on 3rd down and not letting teams march down the field, eating up time and keeping our Offense off the field.

This team didn't stop anybody last year. The team was 0-6 in the division. This notion of "if they were playing the 4-3, they would be top 10", is ridiculous.

I wish there was a breakdown of what our defense is when we play zone against man to man defense. Do not play Zone defense!

There's nothing wrong with playing off the ball, you just have to have better angles, and these guys are learning them. Puts you in position to get picks, too, sometimes 4 of them ;)

Overall, the intensity and desire is there, and there are signs of improvement, but I just wish some of the players would sneak a peek back at the QB, especially when they have their players pinned or cornered.

A few easy int's were lost because the player's back was facing the qb, with the receiver backed into the endzone.

Eventually, teams will start hitting the holes between coverages, and if they can get a peek at the openings, they stand a good shot at stopping the play or getting the int...

One of the turnovers happened with a 40 front, and it was a nickel package not a 43. Every other turnover came from our 34, and goalline for the fumble.

You know what other plays came from us using a 40 front? Both the Earl Bennett bomb and the Knox touchdown.

Our defense played its best this past game when blitzing and using the 34.

You can find all the necessary footage in these two videos:

after watching the game, thats simply not true, and pulling 2 plays out of the game is misleading. AH was playing a one gap, in both odd and even fronts, something that he is suited for, THATS why we won, not because we suddenly got the 3-4 down.

No it isnt, the fact is that most of our players are better suited to the 4-3, they are playing with more fire and heart this season no doubt, but they have been put in bad spots by the scheme.
