mhd24
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100708/ap_on_re_us/us_gay_marriage_benefits As a current law student, I studied this issue recently in the realm of full faith and credit. While states DO NOT have to give Full faith and credit to marriages, and interesting aspect is that a 1940 supreme court case called Williams v. North Carolina said states must give full faith and credit to divorces from other states. There are test cases out there basically asking if states have to give FFC to gay divorces. gbear
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/23/AR2011022303428.html?hpid=topnews I was looking for somewherre to put this story. Who defends the law when it is challenged now? The article mentions 2 cases already before the courts where the Federal Government is on one side saying gay marriages aren't real and thus federal laws relating to rights granted to married people don't apply. Does this become a no contest decision if one side says this is wrong and the other side says "I have no defense."
