Can you run the counter trey against a defense lined up in 3-4?

I noted that a lot of people did not think of the effect of the backside DBs, especially the safety. Back in the day, the backside DBs did not usually have the skills or the tools to check the run action, maintain control against the play action and still get into the cutback lanes to allow the backers to just flow to the ball. While you can still run the counter trey, you MUST have multiple threats on the action side that can keep the backside DBs at home to have solid success.
