He's talking about predicting how the daughter will age, years from now - not how good she looks now - because obviously you can determine that already. Unless you're talking about a woman who hasn't had a baby girl yet, and you're wondering how that baby girl is going to turn out, for the interest of dating her when she grows up - but that would be really perverted. I'm pretty sure he's interested in a girl, and is trying to figure out if she will age gracefully, by using her Mom as an indication, so he doesn't end up with an old hag, with boobs sagging to her knees at just the age of 45.
