OrangeSkin
Looks like we have a good shot at getting him.

Post
B&G
Oh, please let it be so! Getting kinda exciting now, ain't it? Spurrier to run the offense and Marvin Lewis to run the defense!!!! Whew, I gotta sit down!!
Hog Fever
Yup. They are reporting a deal worth 1 million a year on the Caps intermission report. Vey cool.

Still nothing definite though.
RySkins
Yeah, just saw the same thing hog fever! This would be a great move if the Skins could pull this off!
riggins44
YES!!!!!!!!!!! I hope Snyder can pull it off.
I'm going to try and not get my hopes up to
much. It would be interesting to see how he would
use Arringotn.
RF4L
I'm carrying such serious wood that I'm having to stand-up while I type.

Do you people realize that if we get Marvin Lewis, we'll have two of the best strategists in the game covering both sides of the line of scrimmage!!

This is freaking incredible. Thank-you Bucs, you knuckleheads.

You locals can go ahead and line-up your Fedex playoff tickets now. You heard it here first.
Buddha
$800,000 per season for an assistant coach?!?!?!?!? What's Snyder trying to do, BUY a championship???

Regardless of how much he'd be making, Marvin Lewis would come here as one angry SOB after getting cheated out of a head coaching job yet again. The thought of what he could do with this defense has chills running up and down my spine. One thing is for certain, our UFA cap dollars and draft picks won't be spent solely on offensive targets.

11...
Zen-like Todd
This is pretty amazing. If 6 months ago, or a year ago, what have you, someone told you that Spurrier and Lewis would be coordinating your offensive and defensive units, you'd be crapping your pants.

Snyder gives all Redskins fans wood at this point. Hauss
It will be interesting to see if the Post story is revised during the night. It would be great to have Lewis here-even if it is for one year. There is one thing I would like to see--if he is hired, I would like him to assemble a saff where one of the assistants would be capable enough to take over as DC when Lewis departs and be able to maintain the same defensive philosophy. I don't want us to have the change the defense again.
OrangeSkin
Even if Lewis is here for only one year, he'll lay a foundation for our D-coordinators to come. Ray Rhodes did the same thing, putting together a solid D for Kurt Schottenheimer.
ragintd
Sounds like Lewis is going to be very happy here. A fat paycheck and total control of the Defense. Hopefully Synder's smart and does include the Asst HC postion so that he can't get away for a long time unless he's offered a HC job.
OrangeSkin
Could this get any better? The most hated owner in all of sports making all the right moves, while the darlings of the media, the Bucs, look like the village idiots.
SonnyJ
This is great, if true. My only problem with it, as others pointed out, is that this is a likely one and done deal. Then it's on to someone else. Hopefully someone capable from whatever staff that is assembled.

Is Art Modell not the most disgusting person? I love this quote from him in the article:

quote:
I would hope he would see other values, after six years, in staying. I hope he considers staying on.

I'm sure he does see other values, bucko. Like how you passed him over a few years ago for the head coaching position in order to give it to Brian "After all, I did invent the game" Billick. Lewis and his defense have only been carrying Billick and his offense for three years now.

Putz.

[ February 08, 2002, 10:26 PM: Message edited by: SonnyJ ]
OrangeSkin
I can't wait until Brian Billick gets revealed as a fraud without Lewis.
RF4L
Hey SonnyJ,

I hear ya bro', but if he was only here for one year, but left with a ring, would that be alright?
indyskinsfan
Sorry about that OrangeSkin, I missed what you posted first, my bad.

That is the most startling news all week, especially when you see how it played out.

Man what I would give to nail this and look at Tampa Bay with a big ole' smile

indyskinsfan
RedskinFan4Life, I know what you mean about that Woody man, I can't control it and my woman already knows about so we're hoping and getting Champaign if they pull it. Speaking of getting off, welll,,,,,heh, heh

Hm the Spear instead of Chariot Wheels, sounds cool, ahh

[ February 08, 2002, 10:47 PM: Message edited by: indyskinsfan ]
brandies
He should be deservingly gone in 2003 as a head coach. In the mean time, YES!!!

GrimReaper21
This is great!! The already horrible eagles, cowboys, and giants offenses trying to match up with a stacked D led by Marvin Lewis! I
indyskinsfan
Ok what's a good Champaign????!!!! Anyone please

Got to call my brother and niece outside of Townson State for some confirmations, better yet, I think I will clock in on the Baltimore Sun and their local stations on the net, if possible.

Nose to tube for this stuff dudes!!!!

I saw Baltimore's option was Mike Nolan???? Oh well.

Another thing, Mr. Modell, it would be a credit to Marvin Lewis' character, not your words if he indeed did stay in Baltimore! How dare you insuate his integrity is on the line, when afer 6 EYE FUC*IN POPPIN' years he built that D from the floor up and it was HIS suggestions and Ozzie Newsome's brain that got it done. You were just a bean counter! Besides, you could have at least given him a dam* dollar more. Thanks.
Fitz
A chance to land a great defensive coach AND to pi$$ off all the Redskin-haters in Baltimore in one stroke? What's not to love? Cheers to Deep Pockets Danny!

I also loved Modell's quote about the intangible rewards of loyalty and not just chasing the dollars. I'd like to run it by a few Browns fans to see what they think about it.

Here's to you, Modell
baralufficus
I'm stunned !!!!!....i cant beleive this might happen...do you all know that we could be Superbowl contenders next year.....if all goes well....our defence will be able to carry the offence on their back...God i love it ...!!!! indyskinsfan
Thought I'd add just one more thing.

What pi**es me off with these so-called "advisors" for doing things. Don't sign with this club or that one and they are either on the losing end or out of football. WTF do they have to do with someone personal choices, I mean didn't they have their moments with that person in the first place.

Shows you the slave mentality they want them to have. Jimmmy Johnson, Jerry Jones, Art Modell, etc. claim to have so much pride, BS! Modell, left Cleveland, JJ signed with Miami for mo' money, Jerah, well you know, he's psychotic!

Just want that ink baby!!!!
