Perhaps Modern societies but there are other "primitive" ones that have no such stigma and this wasn't a stigma in antiquity either. Back to the OP: You're fine. They had NO idea they were even kin. It was a shock to them. lol. Their family isn't even that close, so I'd assume they can continue their relationship. But, that's just me.
