stratoman
does anyone out there think this will be used in this war and where?
stratoman
Go to: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (MOAB) Primary function: 21,500-pound conventional bomb Guidance: Specific method is unknown but it is precision guided Launch: Dropped from the rear of a C-130 cargo plane Other features: The bomb, also known as "the mother of all bombs," is the successor to the 15,000-pound "Daisy Cutter" bomb used in Vietnam and Afghanistan. It will be the largest conventional bomb in history. Work began on the weapon in 2002 and it was first tested in March 2003 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Montilar
Shock and awe: 20 daisy cutters detonating over Baghdad all at once.
redman
It's too big to be used in Baghdad without massive civilian casualties. I think it will be used to destroy bunkers/facilities in remote locations, that is, if it's used at all.
Montilar
I know. Just saying that that would be a real shock and awe treatment.
Mad Mike
Sorry guys but you are all wrong. If it is used it will be against forces massed in the open, maybe against the republican guard around Baghdad. It's an airburst weapon and it woud be great against entrenched infantry. Tarhog
If the Republican Guard is stupid enough to mass concentrated forces as we approach Bagdad, or uses chem/bio weapons as many are predicting, we may well demonstrate our new toy.

PCS
And that would appear to be what that beast was developed for. Talk about a white knuckle ride for the pilots. Imagine the face of the Republican Guardsman in said situation looking up and seeing that thing coming their way.
Skeletor The Invincible
heh, the MOAB isn't suitable for actual use yet, I'm afraid it's far too new for use in Iraq. However, I wouldn't completely rule out DC's yet.
