btfoom
Art, I know this doesn't really take away the pain, but I thought you should read these two posts. I got them after I had to put my dog, Casey, to sleep. The best part about pets is they are much better that pretty much every person you meet. Tom From my 12 Year Old Daughter: I was looking for some pictures of Casey and came across this poem, written by my 12 year old daughter for English class. The funny thing is - I never saw her cry over Casey. The poem is verbatim what she wrote, grammar and spelling included. I give her: :notworthy :applause: “Casey” Golden Retriever New, energetic, small Chew up many shoes Special love, bond Casey A little small puppy Frisky, friendly and fierce Growing each second Takes a bite of an ear But manages To steel my heart. Next comes a Tick Who leaves more behind Than an itch But limes disease Gets left behind On a good dog My dog. A phone call Brings sad news Arthritis for a sick Golden Retriever A house filled with sorrow For a close companion. A new fury friend Comes to bring a dog happiness We thought they would stick together To the end Sigh If only they knew They wouldn’t be together Forever. The day has come The day of sadness For one little puppy Grew up And has passed away To a better place. She checked in to our lives Then out Leaving us cold and sad The teardrops are flowing Like the ocean waves On a stormy day. And now You feel no pain I count the days Till we join again In heaven Just like old times. From MSF: Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
JimboDaMan
Art, sorry to hear about Marshall. He sounds like a great cat. I've had to go thru that with a few pets over the years and I'm not ashamed to admit I cried each time. Hope the family is doing OK. Maybe after enough time has passed somebody will bring home a cute, furry little Rocky (Macintosh). <edit> and Tom, thats a heckuva poem. Girl's got some talent. :applause:
skinsfan44
Sorry to hear about your loss, Art. Marshall sounded like a cool cat. I (or I should say the wife) have 5 cats and 2 of them are sisters who just turned 18. I just know any day now I will find myself in your position. RIP Marshall.
