Since much of the world is against us; if we go it alone, they could use sanctions against us. Cut off trade or impose high tarriffs on american goods. fansince62 Posted February 16, 2003 Share Posted February 16, 2003 great!....my wife is an events coordinator for local hospitals. she is putting together a major charity golf tournament in May the theme of which was to have been a "Parisian Dream"......with a post-tournament meal of French foods, French wines, and a raffle of airline tickets for a trip to Paris. The theme has been tabled and all orders cancelled to shift to something a tad more positive! economic warfare with the largest, most powerful economic engine on earth is probably not the smartest course to follow! Berlusconi, apparently Bush's one and only ally here, is fighting an unpopular battle and will soon be replaced since the leftist wierdos here are gaining momentum yet again. This country is extremely pacifistic, and even if most like Americans and American culture, they despise American policy and leadership. Italy itself is a terminally ill country, suffering from decades of apathy and socialist backwardsness. You are right about the Country being ill. The way the gov is set up is unfair. The North gets taxes out of their minds to support the lazy South. I lived in Northern Italy for 2 yrs and a lot of the people there do not want to be a part of Italy anymore due to the unfair tax situation.
