MRMADD
There are some real gems who would still be on the board late in the early rounds if you believe these crappy mocks: LATE 2nd Troy Polamalu (big-time safety -- some think he's a late first) Derrick Dockery (mountain of an OG) LATE 3rd Vince Manuwai (mauling smallish OG whose stock has slipped) Montrae Holland (giant FSU guard) LATE 4th Billy McMullen (not the burner that we need, but solid) EARLY 5th Willis McGahee (hmm... a season on IR, and then what?) inmate running the asylum
Now that I'm the new Redskin GM, here is my mock draft based on these rankings. This is subject to change after consultations with Miss Cleo, of course. 1 - DE - Michael Haynes 2 - DT - Rein Long 3 - G - Montrae Holland 4 - FS/PR - Lynaris Elpheage
cowboykiller
What's wierd is that Rien Long is rated a LOT LOT LOT higher than that on Kiper's (non-insider) draft board over on espn.com. Just throwing it out there. Strange. I'm guessing Kiper's mark a$$ is wrong. NINTH OVERALL IN THE DRAFT to be exact. That's a big differential. NavyDave
If the draft goes that way Vinny may be back in my good graces.
NavyDave
I was thinking about last years draft. Didnt the CHEFS draft two D linemen some of us coveted? Ryan Simms and Freeman? What happened to those two guys?
Yomar
Sims held out for all of training camp, then had a season ending injury in his second start. Freeman did OK, but nothing spectacular
Yomar
CK, right now you'll see players all over the place on different sites, after the combine, things will start to be more uniform
MRMADD
Unfortunately, Yomar, that often because they read each other's stuff, not because they independently evaluate players and come to their own conclusions. They're more honest now. It should make you really suspicious if the top 10 draftniks have the same guys in their top 20 (even in different order). It's not a science. They should disagree. That's borne out by the fact that some sure-fire first round draft picks, like Ryan Leaf, don't pan out. I don't think there was a single draftnik who didn't have Leaf in the first round. That doesn't mean they were all in agreement -- it just means that they're unwilling to risk saying what their own eyes are saying if it means they have to go out on a limb. Yomar
I think its more because after the combine, they have a better sense of who each team is interested in and can work off of that, I don't think the top sites just copy eachother, they have people scouting all year round and at all the off-season events, there is no need to copy eachother, but after the combine, team interests start to crystallize as well as who the top players at each position are

Doesnt Kiper always go on record that he had Leaf as his 97th best prospect that year? Love him or hate him, he does put in the time to review the players. That said, he still comes off as a pompous ***. And is wrong frequently, but thats the nature of his game. BTW, I know its a homer topic for me, but Avon Cobourne doesnt go until the late 4th round - it's going be a shocker to me.
Eagles_Legendz
That mock draft has Kelly Washington as a 5th round pick. He would be the steal of the draft that late. Most projections have him going in the second round. Others have him being selected in the first.
teoskin
The deal with Kelley Washington is that he is medical concern with his spine. You don't know if a guy can even play after the type of injury that he has sustained. That is why mocks have him fluxuating between rounds 1-5. Personally I hope we don't take him. Unless he is there in rounds 6-7 and will be able to play football again. -Teo
GB81
It also warrants mentioning that Kelley Washington is a well-documented head case.
