Bin Laden Urges Iraqi Insurgents To Unite

Somebody needs to explain this.

Before AQ WAS the group in Iraqi we were fighting.

Now that AQ is trying to influence the insurgents in Iraqi, they aren't the same group?

Which is it?

Who is who?

The following groups are causing trouble in Iraq

1. Sunni Death Squads - gets cash, training and arms from Saudi targeting shia and khurds.

2. Shia Death Squads - Gets cash, arms and training from Iran targeting Sunnis and non-Iranian insurgents.

3. Al Queda Insurgents - almost wiped out becuase the sunnis turned on them.

4. Non Al Queda holy war insurgents - pretty small but very committed group. These are the guys that are learning to perfect their craft before taking it abroad.

5. Iranian insurgents - The Iranians are armed with the much improved IEDs and every reason in the world to blow up Americans. They work with and are covered by some in the Shia community.

The surge is only suspressing the violence where it is but as you can see the list of groups with agendas is pretty big so the fighting is unlikely to be stopped by the surge.

A diplomatic solution combined with infastructure improvements and security needs to happen

Good analysis there. Amongst that though you have smaller sub groups within those larger groups that will still cause havoc

Who is who is a big question, who are the good guys, who are the bad guys? Really, except for AQ, nobody is either, except they each have their own agenda
