jimster
and you're watching ESPN and the NFL Network, seeing all this ridiculous money being thrown around to free agents, What's going through your head? Is this going to drive the price up for rookie contracts, at least high ones, as well? I wonder if we will see a mess of hold-outs this summer. DWinzit
It certainly appears that there will be more guaranteed money. There is a team cap on rookie salaries that should not allow them to be completely out of hand. But yes, they must be salivating!
Mr. S
they probably do know this, but most teams won't cave for higher demands. The top 10 picks or so will get their nicer sized contracts, but the rest won't. No one has proven anything to anyone in the NFL, that ist he main bargaining chip for the teams. Also, the fact that one team drafted you as opposed to a later team, meaning less money, also weighs in. You pretty much see this only with the studs, the guys who think they are in the top 15, and and at least half of these guys are the ones who will get big paydays later as well. nightbird
The owners pretty much stick together when it comes to the draft, and for every pick you can pretty much predict their contract. It's all slotted so that this year's 12th overall pick will make a little more than last year's 12th overall. Qbs always ask for more but it never gets that outta wack. If anything, these rookies will want a shorter contract so they can get into free agency at a younger age.
RedskinzOwnU
Eh I don't think so. Free agency prices are driven by the market. Draft pick contracts are for the most part driven by precedent and inflation.
