RiggoReincarnated
Interesting stat, but it doesn't tell us anything..... It tells us 2 things: 1. We aren't well conditioned, and the lack of 2 a days at training camp is coming back to bite us. 2. We aren't making the best halftime adjustments. RiggoReincarnated
I think we just have all the wrong players on our team now. It doesn't help that most of our expectations were pretty high after what we did last year.We should have just stuck with Ryan Clark, signed some depth at CB, and called it a day for the defense. Offense wise, I think we have too many play-makers and not enough role players. Trying to feed the ball to 5 guys is too complicated right now, especially considering Brunell doesn't see down the field. Regardless, you can chalk this year up as a rebuild into nothing because we made big mistakes in free agency. I agree. We lack a large possession WR like Art Monk to move the chains and go over the middle.
SkinsFTW
#1. We dont pound the ball 25-35 times a game. We run sweeps for -7 or 2-3 yards then pass on 2nd-3rd down for 0-3 yards. #2. Our defense is putrid in the 2nd half. There are injuries but injuries don't explain the bad play of those in the game. And tackling is the worst I have seen on defense since Norv was here. If our line is that bad then put Wynn back in there. At least he can tackle. #3. Saunders is too cute. We faced 3 teams in the past 3 weeks with weak interior rushing defenses and what do we do? We run sweeps to force 2nd or 3rd and long. #4 Our OL sucks. Samuels had the worst game of a Redskins tackle that I have seen in years. I mean like since mid 90's but I don't get to watch all the games since I'm overseas. Maybe Samuels has been consistent **** for the past 2-3 years. #5 Bugel and Saunders aren't working together on the offense and it is obvious. Either that or Bugel sucks as much as Saunders does. #6 Gibbs needs to stop the Williams/Saunders experiment and coach again. He was the 1/2 time man, now he looks like a fool. SkinsFTW
OK.........the question I have to ask is this: Is Gibbs making the adjustments or is it Saunders?Blondie IMO Gibbs is letting Williams and Saunders run either side of the ball. At least thats what he has said in the past. He is basically a cheerleader at this point and he needs to do his thing since he is the best ever IMO. If not then what the **** were the Redskins in the 80's-90's under him? Pettibone proved in 93 that he couldn't do it. Who else made those adjustments in the many games we were down at the half? It was Gibbs and we ran the ball down defenses throats and Monk made plays. Monk is so underrated. We could start a thread on just that. Monk did a lot more than he is given credit for and maybe thats what we are seeing now. Move the chains, perfect route and in the right place at exactly the right time. He was money before they called it money.

RiggoReincarnated
We have a guy to go over the middle: Cooley. We aren't using him this year effectively because Portis removes himself on 3rd and longs rather then staying in to chip speed rushers, which he did a great job of last year. So on most 3rd and longs, Cooley hasn't been an option. Yea, I see what you are saying though. The Monk argument holds more water than Brunell's colostomy bag.
redskingluvr
The half time adjustments fall on saunders, williams, and the new 'specialist' from buffalo and they are obviously sucking it up. It appears every championship team comes out with stuff to keep the other team off balance and changes things up and watches closely enough to do it well. The guy we have is obviously an idiot, and is changing nothing. So the opposing team DOES make changes and it puts us off balance, a day late and a dollar short, trying to 'adjust' instead of setting the pace and tone ourselves. Williams was relying on turnovers??? He got handed his arse on a platter today and should be ashamed. Scheme? What scheme?? All fall down??? lol
