PERSONNEL ANALYSIS: Mike Pucillo is working as the backup center, which means he had ample playing time during the offseason. Starting C Casey Rabach is recovering from a leg injury suffered when an all-terrain vehicle turned over on him. Rabach was working on his property when the accident occurred. Pucillo has size and experience working in his favor. He gets off the ball well and is getting a grasp of the offense. He could be a valuable addition to the team this season, especially since he‚s also able to play guard. . . .

Rookie SS Reed Doughty is everything the team thought and hoped he would be. He is extraordinarily intense and does not like to make mistakes. He moves to the ball quickly, looks as if he is capable of delivering big hits and should be good in run support. He'll have to battle for playing time in the base defense this season, but has the potential to be an exceptional special teams player while he develops as a position player. .

SCOUTING REPORT: Todd Collins should not be discounted as an important member of the quarterback corps this season. He will not take the starting job from Mark Brunell. There is no open competition there. But Collins has a chance to be a valuable backup. Collins knows the offense better than anyone on the team. He knows where every receiver should be, understands every blocking scheme and blitz protection. He has been a starter in the league, has the arm to make the necessary throws, gets the ball out quickly on the timing patterns and has the confidence to believe that, if called upon, he can get the job done.

COACH UNDER PRESSURE: Al Saunders is so enthusiastic that he seems immune to pressure, but his offense will be closely scrutinized this year. The team's attack floundered at the end of last season and in the playoffs. The offense lacked enough quality receivers and the year took a physical toll on Brunell. Saunders has taken the base offense from last season and built on it. By comparison, if last year's offense was a one-story house, Saunders has turned it into the Empire State Building. The team invested heavily in wide receivers, acquiring Antwaan Randle El and Brandon Lloyd. Everything should be in place to give the team one of the league's most potent attacks. Now, Saunders needs to have the success he helped produce in Kansas City.

INSIDE DISH: DE Renaldo Wynn is handling the potential dropoff in playing time quite well. With the acquisition of Andre Carter, Phillip Daniels will move to left end, making Wynn the odd man out. But Wynn is not whining and does not walk around with his head down. He plans to be in the regular rotation at defensive end and will not let working with the second unit affect his mood. Wynn never has put himself above the team and will not do so now. TIGHT ENDS ANALYSIS: B-plus. Chris Cooley will play a lot of tight end this year, which will raise the passing game a level. Christian Fauria is a veteran who understands the game. Robert Johnson has potential, but has to produce.

Should be interesting to see how Todd Collins does in the preseason.

Should be more interesting to see the reaction to how he does on this board.

I don't give two hoots about Collins, I've seen him play a little. I don't live in the DC area, so I don't get to see practices and scrimmages. I want to see as much of Campbell as possible, since hopefully #17 won't throw any passes this year until week 16. *Knocks on wood* *Crosses fingers*

the Redskins have done a very good job at the top of the draft and in free agency the past 2 years under Gibbs and if the team's late round picks and UDFAs can come in and show competitiveness and give the team the depth it has lacked, the club looks to be right there with Seattle and Carolina :)
