Restructures: Not that BIG of a deal!

another piece of great journalism and reporting......possibly be cut... lets get real.. anyone could possibly be cut....

We should really be thanking Dan Snyder for guaranteeing all this money when most owners are reluctant to make that type of deal. It is potentially hurting his wallet, not the players. And you can say he has money and all that, but guaranteeing 6 million dollars down the road for an unsure investment (injury) is a lot for anyone to put up.

Some players, like MB, will receive less, especially cuz he will likely retire before his contract ends and his money is now spread out. Restructuring guarantees more money, but it is spread out over more years. Some of the players even prorated, meaning they will lose a couple years off their contract. If you are looking to be a bigtime FA, that might be good, but these guys are all team oriented which means they will have to perform to the full levels they are capable of, as most did this year, or risk not being resigned later. These guys are great and restructuring is allowing us to sign other good players and actually keep some good players too( especially if we resign clark). Look at the lottery, nobody waits to collect all that money over the long years, thay take a smaller amount up front, cuz you don't know what can happen over those years. The Redskins TEAM decided on option A. The players deserve every bit of thanks for this, and then some.

If restructuring was just a selfish move by these players, why don't players do it all the time? Players do not like to restructure their contracts. These moves by our players shows that they are willing to take steps that, while don't hurt them a lot, help out the team by allowing the franchise to keep more core people together. These moves were for the good of the team, and of course it doesn't hurt that the players don't lose that much out of it. For once we have team with players talking about the greater good of the team, and we have people saying "big deal. It doesn't mean anything". It means that the players are Redskins and they want to be here. For once, take this wonderful moment and let it soak in. Don't suck the love out of this team you bunch of downers!!!!

The players themselves aren't really doing much accept agreeing to receive money they aren't guaranteed to get right now. In Portis` case I don't think he even had a choice as it was written into his existing contract.

You're basically saying it's great that these players don't hate their team enough to not accept a big check :-)

Works for me. :)

But hey, its not always easy to restructure a guy's contract, and we have been able to do a bunch of them at a time when we really needed to. Someone deserves to be thanked. ;)

Since i was the one who started the "Official Thread" to thank the players. My intention was just showing appreciation for the spirit of unity that they have. Remember we have been awful for so many years, not because we lacked talent, but because we lacked team chemistry. The Redskins were nothing but a bunch of high priced, big name, individuals; which resulted in consecutive losing seasons. But because of Coach Gibbs' vision, he has reinstated the family atmosphere. It is a rare thing in today's sports, so they should be commended.

Okay if who starts what thread is that important, don't start it. And technically you should have posted your thank you in responce to an existing thread, yes one existed, bringing to light that Brunnel steps to the plate thread already existed.

Blondie starts the we want Dallas Chant thread during Dallas week and we all know that unless Blondie isn't available somebody else starts the thread. But you think ES members care who starts a thread...we still want Dallas! Show your appreciation by responding to the existing subject/thread. Oh I started the thread, yeah of one that already existed.
