cphil006
There is no where in that article that mentions a hint of retirement rumor. Where did you come up with this "rumor" Gibbs will coach at least through next year...

wbar3383
Re-read it please guys... note the word "probably".... "They gave him the lucrative contract and they also probably gave him a lot more than that: a guarantee that when Gibbs walks away, " When he inserts the word probably, that makes it opinion. He should be clearer that he is putting forth opinion, but that is his only fault with the statement.
#1AZRedskinfan
Gibbs signed a 5-year contract. We are currently in year 2 of that contract. Do the math. Gibbs isn't going anywhere for a while. Let's see he has a 5 year contract and has done 2, so he has 3 years left and Greg Williams was signed for a 3 year extension hmmmmmm....I'm no math major but I think we all know how this one plays out. tuna_h8r
Gibbs is our coach next year. i believe this 100 percent. This always happens. there are always rumors at the end of the year that old coaches will leave. Bill parcells addressed this, GIBBS WILL BE HERE. If he's not I'll shave my head or something. mark my words. remember this post. An extremeskins member can shave my head for me if Gibbs isnt back next season. Gibbs will be our coach next year. yeah, me too. (but I'm already pretty bald, so mine will be quick work)

docsandy
"They gave him the lucrative contract and they also probably gave him a lot more than that: a guarantee that when Gibbs walks away, Williams will take over as the team's head coach. There have been rumors that Gibbs might leave after the season to return to his NASCAR team, so Williams' promotion could happen sooner than later." That quote is from an article linked on NFL.com - http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9151277/2 It's actually a good article, giving a lot of credit to the Skins' defense. He also comments that Gibbs will have the offensive side of the ball cookin' next week! I'm just not sure about the rumors of Gibbs leaving? Disclaimer: In no way am I trying to start a rumor with this thread. I am simply seeking clarification on a quote in the article linked above. Tony Stewart, after winning the Nextel Cup this year... said that he was happy Gibbs was doing well (this was after the 3-0 start) and that his son was doing a great job, but in 3-4 years when he was ready to come back, he would be welcomed. WIth that, and with everything Gibbs has said (he repeats the fact that he is here for 5 years)... anything to the contrary is mere speculation by the media until it is confirmed by someone that knows something. ouvan59
I didn't start any rumors, friend. I simply asked a question. No, you quoted a guy who was quoting a rumor from an unknown source and then asking people who have no idea if it's true to address it. Talk about your wild speculation. CrypticVillain
Are we going to talk about this every year for the next 3 years? Most Likely because idiots make up stuff and try to back it up as much as possible. Gibbs is hear for one thing and one thing only to make us a winning orginization. And one playoff run is not enoguh for him.
buckeyeG
Are we going to talk about this every year for the next 3 years? NO!! Let's end it right now....I'm amazed how(some) fans of this team have not taken JG at his word, the mediots,I don't care what they have to say but when JG says he signed a 5 year deal, he plans on it.
