bulldog
1. Portis traded netted the team the franchise's leading rusher. He is only 25. 2. Moss trade for Coles gave team a starting pro bowler who is only 26. 3. Sean Taylor and Chris Cooley, the top 2 picks in 2004, both look to be future pro bowlers. 4. Shawn Springs was signed for half of what Bailey got in Denver and yet has played at a very high level the past 2 seasons. 5. Cornelius Griffin and Marcus Washington are the core of the defense in the front seven and were signed to deals that while appearing large at the time now look to be bargains based on their ability to affect the outcome of games. 6. Mark Brunell had a poor 2004 season. But 2005? He is the #3 rated qb in the NFC with 3,050 yards, 23 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. The $8.6 million bonus is still a big number BUT a #3 pick doesn't appear now to be too high compensation for a player that takes you to the postseason. After all the Redskins gave up #1, #2 AND #3 picks for Brad Johnson in 1999........ 7. Jason Campbell. Is this the pick that Gibbs made to ensure the future of the franchise long after he is gone as Head Coach?

thinker
I am delighted to agree that my analysis of 6 weeks ago was dead wrong. Portis has become a prototype Gibbs runner - and the center piece of the Skins' resurgence.
The Full Monty
You forgot Philip Daniels. He's come on strong as of late after a slow start to the year.

Dirk Diggler
Agree with the above. I just wish we had a few young d ends to develop right now from the 2nd day of the past few drafts. Overall, I give the player acquisition department an A-. :point2sky
