I am making one of my 4-5 trips a year to Reno (its only 2 1/2 hours East of me) next week, and was wondering if anyone had some Craps (or Baccarat) tips. I started playing Craps last year and at 1st seemed to be making a killing. Would walk away from the table with a $100 profit (which is bit because I was playing the low limits tables). But now the last few times I seem to lose instead of winning. Anyone have any good systems that they want to share on Craps or Baccarat? Does anyone play either of these games? Look forward to hearing some strategies. I usually just play the come out line with insurance, and make a few side bets as the roll progresses. That and the table minimums are usually too hi for this tight wad :laugh: We (the girl and I) usually make day trips - go up early and come back late. However, we are 2x in August, the 1st and last weekend. The first weekend will just be a Saturday Day Trip. The second time we will be going up on a Sat and return on a Monday (Labor Day). We will be staying for the 1st time at the Atlantis. What's your take on it? I have stayed so far at the Sands Regency and Circus Circus. Both were okay. Let them role and role and just take a back seat to all the action. I like to bet the hard ways. especially hard 8's and 10's. 5 bucks gets you decent money. PCS Posted July 26, 2002 Share Posted July 26, 2002 Well, being about 6 hrs from Mesquite and family in Vegas, I've spent a few......minutes in the Casinos. Blackjack and roulette for me. I was told by my brother that if you are wandering and here cheering coming from the Craps table, get there yesterday. :cool: No help I know but man that game confounds me. Romo Posted July 26, 2002 Share Posted July 26, 2002 I really liked the Atlantis, its off the main area but its a really nice place. Pai-Gow is fairly easy to play once you get into it. I found $5 tables at Atlantis. Even with high minimums you can last a while on Pai-Gow just because you push alot. If you want me to give you a run down on how to play id be happy to. I think myself pretty knowledgable on the Craps Table- but there is a lot of strategies that I see the old rich coots play for hours with. I just was wondering if I was missing something. JangoFett Posted July 26, 2002 Share Posted July 26, 2002 i like making place bets on the 6 and 8 (the others give the house too great an advantage; 6&8 are only about a 1.5% house advantage); if you're conservative pull your place bets after they score X number of times (1,2,3 or more depending on your risk/reward profile), so your original place bet money is not at risk for crapping out. this limits your upside but may save you some losses in the absence of hot shooters. also the best bet in the house is the pass + behind the line odds bet. many places will limit you to 5X your original amount; the more you leverage it the lesser the house advantage is. craps is the fastest game--you can make $ fast and you can lose it fast. i'd say most of the other bets give the house too large an advantage...bottom line, in the end you need to get lucky but it wont hurt to play smart. i put some $$ on the skins in the america bowl next week. the house i was at had niners by 2.5, but i figure that SF doesnt care that much about winning or losing this, and SOS wants to win at everything he does. maybe this was stupid because it was preseason with all the scrubs playing, but you cant deny the way spurrier hates losing... Romo Posted July 27, 2002 Share Posted July 27, 2002 Not a big lobster fan myself. Here is a quick run down on Pai-Gow. You get 7 cards. You have to make a 5 card hand (High) and a 2 card hand (Low). the 5 card hand must be better then the two card hand. Ex. if you have A, K, Q 10, 10, 5, 2. Your hands would be Pair of tens, Q, 5, 2 in the High and A, K in the High. The object of the game is to beat the House in both hands. If you win in one hand but not the other you push. If you lose both hands, well then you lose your bet. To win a hand you must outright beat the dealer. Ties are considered a loss. Ex: You have same Hand. Pair of 10s in high, A,K in low. You win if: House has: Pair of 9s in High, A, Q in Low You tie is: House has Pair of Js and A, Q in Low or Pair of 9s in high and pair of 8s in low. You lose if: Pair of J's in high and pair of 8s in low. One about half of the hands there is no debate on how you play your hand. The strategy comes in when you have 2 pairs, a flush, a straight etc... Do you break up the flush so you can have a higher low hand? Do you split up the two pairs or keep them together? You can play to Push or play to Win. However sometimes you play to Push, which would normally mean putting a low pair in the low hand figuring you are going to win that hand or keeping a flush together, and having 7, 4 in the low, and lose or win. Sometimes when you play to win you push. If you are not sure how to play your hand you can let the dealer do it for you. They have a set way of doing it. Brave Posted August 2, 2002 Share Posted August 2, 2002 I have a system at roulette that I enjoy playing. Goes like this: Let's say we're playing for dollars. Playing the thirds, put 5 bucks on two of the three. Then put another 5 on red or black. Then I take singles and play a couple of the left over numbers not covered and split the 0s with one more. You'll only have about 4 numbers where you lose everything ($18). You'll either win or about break even on most of the rest of the board. I played this once for about 4 hours straight (for slightly larger stakes) in Biloxi and the dealer told me he was going to go try it for himself when he got off work. Of course, I've lost my share as well, but that's gambling. I will also play the thirds alone. Take two $25 dollar chips and wait until the dealer is just about to wave off any more bets and throw them down on two of the three thirds. The Evil Genius Posted August 5, 2002 Author Share Posted August 5, 2002 Well, I came back semi-victorious from Reno. I was up $100 from Ftxgeralds and Circus Circus, but lost $150 at Cal-Neva. But then regained $120 at Boomtown, so I came away with a $70 profit - which is good when you are betting the $3 minimums (ok so I am cheap!). Anyways, the significant other came home about $180 richer. So me and her did ok. Stayed with Craps and Slots this time. Will probably venture out to the Pai Gow table next time (Labor Day weekend) if they have any tables that are cheap. Thanks for all the advice.
