I agree with this to an extent (don't have an overall order yet) but I would also keep an eye on Mills. He's not somebody I'd want as a first option but when we're talking about getting Tribusky and Mariota, I'd put him above them because at least he's got the potential to be something good. But he does have 13 games of film and so its a question of what they saw in those games as his game translated to the NFL. I look at his completion percentage and it was good in most of his games this year but his YPA and QBR were horrible. I think I'd put him above Mond and Ehlinger though.

I will say that (I don't know his preseason stats) early in the season he was talked about in terms of how bad he looked, how overwhelmed he was and how he wasn't ready and by the end of the year many were saying he had a better year than Lawrence or Wilson.

That’s what I don’t like about getting Mariota and Trubisky. We pretty much know what they are and it doesn’t lead to Super Bowls. I’m not saying Mills is a future elite qb, but we don’t know he’s not gonna be one either. He was awful at the beginning of the season then he progressed throughout the year. Progression is the most important thing you wanna see in a young qb. I think if you take away the Bills game he had like 16td’s and 6 int’s (not 100% on this). I really liked him coming out bc of his size, his intelligence, he played in a high talent conference and was honorable mention I think, and had a great pro day. I say I would rather trade a 1st rounder for him bc to me he was almost as good of a prospect as I think Pickett and Corral are, but we have good nfl tape on Mills. If we get any qb on my list, which I think we will, I think we’re set up to succeed in the future as long as we draft well. And I’m 100% confident in our scouting department 😂

Sign a Vet QB. Don't wanna trade for one unless it's Watson. Draft best MLB at 11 or Hamilton if he drops. Then take  QB Carson Strong in 2nd. He can learn behind the Vet and gives his knee more time to heal.

Strong has good size and he was great the last two seasons but he played in the Mountain West. That conference had a total of 52 players in the NFL this season. IMO he’s a little too risky for a second round pick. I would definitely take him in the 5th-7th rounds though and hope he develops.

  3. Mills was taken in the 3rd round (I wanted us to take him in the 2nd) and he exceeded expectations. Does that mean the Texans would trade him for a 2nd round pick or a 1st? Even if it was a 1st, I’d consider trading for Mills instead of spending even more to trade into the top 5 to draft one of these qbs. I love Pickett, Corral, and Willis but we know Mills can perform at the NFL level. I think I would pull the trigger on that trade. My wish list is Rodgers, Watson, Wilson, Mills, Pickett, Corral, Willis in that order. I think we definitely end up with one of them.

This one has Pickett and Corral go before our pick.  And we take Desmond Ridder.  This coming from the dude who pushed for Ridder in the 2nd round when it looked he would come out in last year's draft -- but I'd flip out if they took him at 11.

Of the top 6 QBs, Ridder has to do the most work to win me over.  Having said that if he kills it in the Senior Bowl I might warm up to it.  Right now, it makes me cringe.

There’s nothing Ridder can do between now and the draft to convince me he’s worth a first round pick. He looks great against weak competition and when he played  actual nfl level talent in the cfp he throws for 140 yards and zero td’s. I felt the same way about Zach Wilson and Trey Lance. Wouldn’t even waste a 3rd round pick on him.

    Don't worry. @Rdskns2000is basically Eeyore.

If we pick at 11 then I think we'll have a shot at who we want. There are no guys this year who are the typical bona fide blue chip players who will undoubtedly go top 3. I'd actually be pretty surprised if a QB goes top 5, though anything is possible.

I think it all depends on which guy(s) we like and how much we'd be willing to move up to get him if it comes down to that. Ideally we'd have a couple of QB we really like and wouldn't have to move up at all.

I would be pumped if we stay at 11 and get Pickett.

I fully expect us to be very disappointed when it comes to qb.

Odds are we only are abke to get Tribusky or Mariotta to be QB1. We don’t draft a qb because whoever is left, doesn’t interest us and we keep Taylor and Kyle as backups.

QB1 doesn’t improve from his previous time starting and we have a similar start  in 22 as we did in 21. The difference in 22; Ron is fired by mid season.

That is the destiny for the Snyder Commanders in their first year.

I totally understand the pessimism. We have no reason to believe this team will get a good QB. I just think Ron probably knows he’s gonna be on the hot seat if he doesn’t win next year and have a hard time seeing him choosing Trubisky or Mariotta to keep him off that seat. If he drafts a qb it gives him at least 2 more years.

I mean don't get me wrong I'm not greedy. If you tell me we can have 2012 again but for like 4-5 years straight, I'd take it. That was the most fun I've ever had following this team.

Oh me too man, I’ve been watching since 1997 and 2012 was like winning the super bowl to me. Yeah I think we could have that type of offensive excitement for several years if we draft Willis. He has a stronger build and is more coordinated than rg3. Griffin was fast but ran like woody from Toy Story. Willis is probably the only QB in this draft that can bring instant success but that success won’t last as long as we’d like. I totally think that is worth the #11 pick though. Hell I’d trade up to get him.

My issue with Willis is just how dependent he is on running. QBs like that don't sustain success. Even Lamar Jackson is already starting to drop off after the MVP campaign a couple seasons back. Cam Newton's prime years was pretty short too. List goes on and on.

If we draft Willis we have to go all in to try to win in that 4 year rookie contract window and then likely have to start over again.

You’re probably right, he might only be effective for 5 years or so. But that gives us several years of good offense and we could still keep looking for pocket passers in future drafts or free agency. Hopefully by then Ron has built a solid team through drafting so our new qb can hit the ground running.

i don't know but do ya'll actually think if Turner can really make up some good plays IF we drafted Willis? i have not seen any RPO type plays from Turner's and Willis is that type of QB.  i just don't think we can draft a dual threat type of qb with Turner's old school vanilla style offense. if turner would added some RPO type, read option plays with heineke, he would of at least be decent.  i have yet to see that type of offense from the OC!

I think we change our whole offense if we draft Willis and pretty much copy the Ravens playbook. It’s an easy transition bc there aren’t as many plays and the blocking and passing routes are very basic. It’s meant to take thinking out of it and rely on the qb’s athleticism. The Ravens have proven you can win like that. He’s currently my #3 qb behind Pickett and Corral but the more I watch him the more I want him on our team.

people keep trying to talk up the potential rookies but isn't this likely the worst QB draft class since 2013?  Isn't it possible most if all of these guys drop out of the first round and even then they'll be wastes of picks?

The “experts” are saying that but I don’t agree. I think this qb class is better overall than last year’s

  10. Pickett and Coral are better prospects than Mills was. Mills has shown what he can do though. If the Texans take one of them and we don’t get the other or Willis I’d definitely trade for Mills. I also loved Trask and would love to see us trade for him but that’s unlikely.

Willis is going to have to sit for while. Maybe even multiple years. Ron doesnt have time for that. I think we end up trading up in the draft for either Pickett or Corral. But that is just my gut. I wouldnt hate picking Strong or Howell at 9 either. We have to come away with a first round QB in this draft.

I totally agree with you that we have to go QB in the first round. I think you’re right that Willis would have to sit for a few years, but only if we try to fit him into a traditional drop back offense. Imo he could play right away and be very effective if we run a ravens type offense because it relies on athleticism more than quick thinking. I love Pickett and Coral bc they can be the prototypical pocket passer and they also have some speed but not like Willis has. I’m not as high on Howell bc he’s just a little short for a pocket passer and he didn’t have a great season this year. Only problem I have with Strong is he didn’t face great competition. I know there are exceptions like Russell Wilson and Drew Brees being short and Josh Allen playing at Wyoming, but I just trust prospects a lot more if they have the size and experience of facing top competition. Since that’s what I believe I’m sure Howell and Strong will go on to be hall of famers  😂

Who says we're going QB in round 1?

We might not go qb in round 1. Just in my personal opinion I only see 3 qbs being good at the next level in this draft and I think at least 2 of them will go top 10. I’m also not an expert talent evaluator so I’m probably wrong lol

No need. All the QBs are roughly in the same level. Not looking to give up any picks for any of the QBs

It would be great if we could stay put and get Pickett, Coral, or Willis. I think all 3 will be solid at the next level. But look at the 2011 draft with the trash qbs taken in the top 10. We’ll probably have to trade up to land one of them imo. Maybe we don’t go qb in the first round, who knows. I’m definitely not a fan of trading up but sometimes it’s necessary.

  14. I think this is the draft where we get our franchise guy. Pickett, Coral, and Willis are excellent prospects imo. Both Pickett and Coral have ideal height, played in big time conferences and were all-conference, good speed, nfl arm, pocket presence and escapability, and they can go through reads quickly. Normally I would pass on a guy like Willis bc he’s a little shorter than I like and he didn’t play against great competition. However, this kid is electrifying! He reminds me so much of Michael Vick by how he runs and how he’s built. I think he could be okay in a traditional Nfl offense, but he could be great in a read option type offense like the Ravens use with Lamar. If we get one of these guys I believe we’re set for the next decade. I think all of them are top 10 talent but Coral may slide bc of the injury, idk. I’ve never been more excited for a draft than I am with this one.
