I think it's conflicting information from metrics and tape.  They see a guy who has good accuracy (if they've been following) on deep balls but some of our better experts have talked about guys needing to wait on some of those.  They see someone who runs but is, at least according to data we have, pulls down without looking downfield to extend the play via pass (not that he never does but it's more rare than Maye or Williams who run mostly to extend the passing play.)  They see a guy who's ADOT and over the middle throws appear more scarce compared to guys who may run but also are more daring over the middle/intermediate. Same with processing, it could be that JD walked them through pre and post in one-on-ones and blew their socks off.  But I've seen tape breakdowns that call some of that into question (Kurt Warner is one, and he was critical of Maye and McCarthy on different things.)

It's also a logical thing. If a guy ran for maybe 3-500 yards and had same passing numbers and maybe dealt with less talented wideouts, you'd say "Ok he's obviously mostly pocket" if the system was pro style.  If a guy ran for 0 and threw for 5,000 you'd say "pocket QB" (Haskins wasn't really a runner, as an example.)  But a guy who sets running records in conjunction with passing is more difficult to assess.

In short, lots of conflicting stuff, great tape, some mediocre/concerning like other prospects, some bad advanced metrics but are those stats actually telling the full story?

There are dozens if not more highlight reels and full game cut-ups available to the viewing public now a day. It's very hard to watch those and still conclude he's not a good pocket passer, unless someone has already made up their mind and would rather die on that hill.

Hmmm. Yet for some reason I would rather have Brady or Manning. They couldnt run at all. The qb has to throw the ball. I do not care about running around. Running around increases hits. Not a good option for a stick figure.

Again, why have you decided he's not a good pocket passer? Of himself, Maybe and Williams, Daniels might actually be the most polished pocket passer.

Adam just compared JD to Justin Fields..... WOW!!!!!!!! Using such an awful bust as comparison is immensly disheartning and really makes me question his ability to scout QBs.

Have you not watched Daniels play football? He's a fairly polished pocket passer for a college QB and iirc he was in a pro system at ASU.

    Greetings Sons of Washington  -

I step away for some R&R in the Bahamas and this place has turned into a morgue.  Or maybe it is that impending sense of dread when you know your organization has been fleeced again.  Somehow this collective has threaded the proverbial needle and found the only human being in the draft that encapsulates the worst attributes of Haskins and RG3, neatly rolled all that into a frail looking E.T. body.  The best this fanbase can muster is some type of blind allegiance to "Adam Peters".

Was anyone else concerned that the other teams had legitimate looking war rooms and the Commanders team looked like they were operating out of a Red Roof Inn?  Why is Doug Williams still wandering around aimlessly?

I admit I am legitimately concerned for the young mans health.  Lil Jay seems to already have communication issues, often preferring to express his true feelings through his mommy and his agent.  I can't even fathom what will happen when the massive CTE sets in after he is ragdolled at TJ Watt at Fedex Field.

What is even more embarrassing is watching these stooges take a victory lap while the rest of the NFL laughs, knowing we were the only organization dumb enough to buy in.  The Patriots could not believe their luck and were at the podium before ESPN finished their requisite self aggrandizing for fooling the Commanders into thinking this was the prize.

The Wise Man Prediction: Bust, Broken, or Traded By Year 4. Sorry friends.

Isn’t there a separate thread for parody posts?

not sure how OJ was able to fanagle his way out of that guilty verdict

O.J’s contribution to beating the charges was simply dropping an obscene amount of money on his legal team. The verdict was a fallout from Eula Love, 39th and Dalton, Latasha Harlins, Rodney King, etc..We can’t legislate the consequences of oppression.

This was why many of us POC were just like meh.🤷‍♂️ It was basically a do over after the Rodney King verdict. Welcome to our world.

The Soon Ja Du sentencing played a huge role as well but that was swept under the rug because politicians in Los Angeles wanted the focus to stay on the LAPD, which is easier for them to distance themselves from as opposed to the liberal female judge that handed out the sentence.

OJ, Aaron Hernandez, Junior Seau and Mike Webster are the Mount Rushmore of CTE.  I really hope they get to scan his brain.

Just my opinion but I don't think CTE had anything to do with it. He was very calculated and very good at crafting a persona tailor made for the West L.A "aristocracy"  his fits of violent rage were reserved for Nicole. Narcissistic personality disorder would be my somewhat educated guess. He was an extremely insecure person which most likely would have made him very vulnerable to what fame can do to the mind, and there are varying degrees of narcissism so his could have escalated as a result of becoming famous.

The only issue with including OJ in this group is he had a history of violence long before he was in the NFL.  Growing up in a tough section of San Francisco and was in a street gang as a teen and - as he himself said - he was violent back then, getting into a lot of fights.

So CTE wasn't the reason for slaughtering two innocent people.

The domestic violence (IMO) would have made it impossible to meet the California standards for an insanity defense even for his legal team

The way story was told to me (as I was too young when it happened to get it) was everyone knew he was guilty...

The question was whether he was going to be the first black man clearly guilty and got off Scott free in our criminal justice system.

White people be beating the system all the time, why this first was bittersweet and not just another failure.

As I got older and saw him go to jail for something else kinda realized how much an asshole he really was.  But that moment was still an assbackwards leap forward in equality where finally if you have the resources you can beat the system, too, no matter what color you are.

    I'm pretty sure his wife's family doesn't want to hear that ****, I know I wouldn't.

I wish there was another way for Los Angeles to exposed for the racist cesspit that it is, but unfortunately it often takes a tragedy for things like that to come to light.

I can't overlook the thousands upon thousands of people who are gonna be severely hurt by this stupidity. Some will travel out of state to find IVF services, just adding more costs for them to shoulder (and I'm pretty sure there will be insurance issues as well if they do). About the only good I can see resulting is that it motivates even more people to vote out Republicans, because this is becoming way too ****ing much to ignore.

While the logic behind thinking this will change how people and women in particular vote is 100% sound, I have very little hope this is the case. My gf’s dad has three daughters and he’s Trump 2024 full steam ahead.

  11. I'm not going crazy in free agency as there's depth at positions of need. In the draft I'm keeping in mind that I saw Sam Howell play the QB position at a high level in some tough circumstances in the first half of the season. Not rulling out a QB but hopefully not at 2.

Free agency would be about taking advantage of the fact that there is depth at IOL and edge rusher. Michael Onwenu, Robert Hunt, Jonah Jack or Kevin Dotson are plan A. For edge rusher plan A is Jonathan Greenard, Bryce Huff or ZaDarius Smith.

In the draft I'm not particularly concerned about not finding a trade down partner, so I'm moving down and taking either Alt or Fashanu. With the extra ammo I'm looking to trade back into the first round but still trying to leave myself with one second round pick. If I can do that and be in position to grab J.J McCarthy I'd think long and hard about it, but if not, Bralen Trice and Darius Robinson would be my target. Round 2 is basically pure BPA but JaTavion Sanders or Jonah Elliss would be near the top of the list. Further down I'm taking advantage of the depth at receiver and running back, and looking for an off the ball linebacker somewhere in round 3.

course Belichek getting all six of his wins in that period shifts things a bit

That the most decorated head coach in NFL history is a “retread” isn’t an argument against retreads. It’s also still over 50% if you remove Bellicheck so wrong on all accounts either way.

I think the only reason many are upset over the Quinn hire is we saw what the RR hire eventually ended up becoming over the tenure of his being the HC, we see that in a lot of cases that retreads being successful aren’t necessarily the norm, but the exception, and to be fair I think the biggest reason for disappointment is we were told that Ben Johnson was the hot new shiny toy and the up and coming Coordinator… (sadly that’s how a lot of ppl live their daily life’s as well, follow the norm, think how they think ppl want them too, and follow everything they hear and are told without doing their due diligence to find out for themselves) let’s be honest not many really knew anything about Ben Johnson accept for what they heard and were told by the NFL outlet pundits …. A lot of ppl never heard of Ben Johnson up until last season I bet.

Not the norm? 19 out of the last 26 Super Bowl winners were “retreads”. That’s 73%

  14. So our dog had pancreatitis, very low levels initially treated with antibiotics and any nausea meds last Monday. Took her to her regular vet today where she was injected with cerenia (wasn’t mentioned as a side effect) this afternoon. She’s now peeing uncontrollably and looking for water. We’re going to take her back to the vet tomorrow and put an impromptu diaper on her tonight but I’m wondering if it could be something serious?

No more retreads. 2 of our last 3 coaches were retreads and fired retreads at that.

Wherever Jim goes, he won’t be there to long. 4-5 years.

Vrabel just got fired, let him go elsewhere.

We need to give one of the young oc’s a chance.  Yeah, the could be busts but I’d rather go with someone young and hungry.

8 of the last 10 Super Bowl winners were retreads if iirc.

  16. Paul Finebaum says it’s because college football is broken but he had his trap shut all those years when before a ball was even kicked we knew it was either an SEC team OSU or Clemson winning the natty. That’s when college football was broken.
