  1. Finally rewatched Saturday's debacle and a few things jumped out.

I love Darren Fletcher but he has absolutely no business playing in a two man midfield with a deep lying playmaker type. Swansea simply surrounded Herrera, who has never played in a two man midfield in his career, and completely isolated him from Mata and Rooney.

Javier Hernandez is an absolute disaster in any system that requires a striker to do anything with the ball. He kills attacks and with Mata and Rooney isolated from the midfield he was rendered completely useless.

Adnan Januzaj needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet IMO. If I had $20 for every time Ronaldo got passed his man and did something strange with the ball I'd be able to afford a flat in Salford and attend games. He has the ability to completely change the defensive gameplan of the opposing team and the only way he'll improve is on the pitch in league games.

The same can be applied to Phil Jones and Tyler Blackett. Put them next to Benatia if we buy him and let them work out the kinks on the pitch. That's the nature of the beast when you invest in young center backs and there's no way around it. Both are better than Smalling and Evans. Hell if Vidic sticks around the game probably ends 1-1.

Overall at the top of the squad we have players that can play for anyone, but when LVG said the squad is unbalanced he probably meant that the gap between the aformentioned players and the meat of the squad is astronomical. The only place we have real depth is the number 10 and with only one viable midfielder to speak of depth in that area is pretty useless.

Even with all that, if the defense is strengthened and Carrick, Van Persie and Shaw make it back United will compete for 3rd or 4th place even without a marquee signing, but what we absolutely cannot do is sit the rest of the transfer window out. We'll see over the next few weeks if the players due to return can't make a difference and if Van Gaal can't get the side to gel and get some positive momentum going.

  2. Hypothetically speaking because this would NEVER happen, but if during Lesnar's coronation the lights went out and the sheep mask flashed, what would the crowd's reaction be? I'm asking because I see no current faces on the roster for Lesnar to even have a semi-interesting feud with considering how they've built him up. I feel like someone needs to swerve to be worthy of a feud with Brock. Maybe they have Reigns lose to him as Survivor Series and go on to win the RR?

They can always bring Taker back and have a two part contract signing on each of the minor PPVs leading up to Survivor Series.

  3. If this was 1988, Reigns would definitely be your next champion.

Unfortunately, in 2014, they expect the champ to be able to put on a credible 20 minute match at the PPV (or special Network event or whatever). And Reigns simply can't do that right now. At least, he can't with Orton.

I hope they move Reigns to someone else who is a little more dynamic to see if he is better than that. But I have a feeling his push is about to collapse.

I'm also not entirely sure where they go with Lesnar now. Having him squash Cena was cool, but they are getting into Vader in WCW territory here where it seems inconceivable for anyone to beat Lesnar. I guess that works if your champ is not going to be on tv much.

It is set up pretty well if Bryan is coming back. That could be the best underdog storyline ever. But I'm not sure Bryan is coming back anytime soon.

He hits the prettiest spear imo out of everyone that has used that move, but other than that you can count his moves with one hand.

  4. We are neither trying to replace Luis nor do we have to.

Yes, 31 goals have gone out of the team. But let's not forget Sturridge banged in 21 in only 29 league games last year and you've players like Sterling and Coutinho beginning to add more goals to their repertoire. And with the new defensive additon's/ approach you have to figure we aren't conceding 50 goals again. So the need to score 3/4 a game dissipates.

A reliable goal scorer that can be the primary back-up to Sturridge is what's needed along with an experienced older head that will chip in with double figures over the course of the year like Eto'o for this season. Then you strengthen again next summer.

This team wasn't a one man team last year by any stretch. in the 11 games Luis didn't play in all competitions, we won 10 of them.

    Hail.

Its the attention he draws and the way he forces defenders to constantly be on their heels which has a ripple effect on the entire attacking unit. He is one of three players in the world that can do that. I think to finish second or better Liverpool can't allow more than 35 goals give or take.

  5. Game started 4-2-3-1.  Inviting pressure and trying to control the midfield.  Southampton were winning that battle, even when we led on the score board.

Game finished 4-4-2.  Stretched Southampton and ended up getting the goal.  Also the rest of the team seemed to fall into line, as tired as they were.

I'm not worried about the rest of the team or it's depth outside of an extra attacker.  Lambert isn't the answer, but he's fine coming off the bench.

Really, BR got this one wrong.  He made the right adjustment, but he got the initial gameplan wrong.

But really, who knew what to expect out of Southampton.

They still have some very good players left and Koeman isn't David Moyes. Ward-Prowse, Clyne and Tadic will make very good additions for Liverpool next year. You have everything needed to play a more controlled style but do you trust the center of your defense to soak up attacks? When Ronaldo left us the blow was substantially softened by Ferdinand and Vidic still being somewhere near the prime. A top class center back next to Skertl can do the same thing. I don't see anyone you can bring in bar Ronaldo and Messi that can really replace Suarez. Cavani and Falcao are fools gold IMO in this specific situation even though they're very good players.

  6. I'm well aware United has our fair share of problems that need to be solved in the two weeks but as far as Liverpool go, what happens when you can't score a video game amount of goals (highly likely without Suarez) and the center of the defense looks like it did last year? Instead of a forward I'd be going head to head with United for Benatia which is a battle you could probably win because of the CL.

  7. And only your continued delusion's could infer that from our discourse.

Whatever helps after the embarrassment of Swansea I suppose.

    Hail.

It sucked and put me in a terrible mood but as a commentator said the season is still in its embryonic stage. Benatia could be on his way to shore the defense up a bit along with Rojo. There's also Van Persie that hasn't played a lick yet and is a difference maker along with Carrick who at the very least can draw a little attention away from Herrera and Mata. Its game one, not a time to hit the panic button or the party hats lets talk in a few weeks.

  8. So much wasted internet space for in other words "my club good, your club bad." I'm not going to bow down to you because you happen to be able to go to games and I can't. I lived in England for years, have been back since I left and still have some very good friends I'm in touch with all the time over there. Get off your high horse.

  9. During a game? You know jack **** about the makeup of our crowd if you believe that.

Individuals who have tried singing anti-Utd songs when we aren't playing United 'politely' get told to 'sit down, shut the **** up and get behind L'pool. We aren't playing United knobhead' or words to that effect.

The same can't be said on a regular basis at Old Trafford.

But hey, we're the big bad meanie obsessed ones.

    Hail.

Ahhh yes every team, in every league, in every country sing about their rivals when they're not playing them except Liverpool. Adorable.

  10. The great thing is when things turn around for United you two won't peep out a single word about us. Save this post if you like.

You're mistaking us for the shower at the other End of the East Lancs you favour.

We'll give you all the ****e going on here (soccer rivalry. A foreign concept to you as exemplified every time you've ****ed over the years); but at the game when we aren't playing Utd we get behind out OWN team. Not spend large portions singing ****e about someone else we aren't even playing.

    Hail.

Who is us? You're in complete denial if you're claiming Liverpool fans don't sing about United when not playing us. My original point however was concerning this thread. I'm sorry though is your idea of a rivalry you slag off my club and I say nothing?

  11. Lots of set piece goals today.

    Oh me?

I was fine until the 2nd minute when I heard "Where's your famous Munich song" and I thought I'd ****ed my schedule up and missed a Liverpool game.

Then in succession I heard "It's never your fault" and EVEN "Steve Gerrard's song".

Singing to Liverpool while we are at Milwood watching you loose and suring up our defense by signing Moreno officially.

    I'm chillin, Bob Dylan.

And you still found time for giddy incessant posting during United's game? Impressive.

WAIT! You're trying to excuse losing at home for the first time ever in the league to little Swansea City on the opening day in front of the Dutch saviour? The power of United's resources compared to Swansea's and that's what you throw out?

 Man alive you'd better stock up on anti-depressants. You are in for a LONG year of excuse making.

    Hail.

I can see why you hope so since finishing above United is your only chance at a meaningful trophy.

  12. And ignoring the 76K other obsessives?

Selective United standards at full play again in glorious technicolour here.

    Well done you.

    Hail.

Kieran Richardson didn't receive the same treatment from Liverpool fans over the years? Well that and the same treatment your fans gave John Barnes before they realized he could play.

  13. As opposed to Utd fans singing ****e about both Liverpool and Jon Jo Shelvey (****ney, not a Scouser. But yer know. Why be picky in your abuse) at the match when yers not even playing Liverpool?

Yeahhhhh, not obsessed at all.

    Hail.

I'm talking about the two way hard-on going on in this thread. Every time United concede a shot on goal out they come.

  14. And they still live and die by our results like it was their own team playing. Wonder what it is we could have done to be so relevant even after a bad season? That's that then one game in without 4 starters before the transfer deadline and the season is over.

Put it back in your pants and come talk to me in December.

  15. Ive seen a couple Sporting matches.

Watched him at the World Cup as well and was impressed.

I know some fans like big names and big names only, but Khedira is not a defensive player. He hated playing that role under Mourinho. He looks great going forward. Ramsey is the best midfielder on Earth in that role.

And in history. Makes Yaya Toure and Iniesta look like scrubs.

  16. Latest rumor: ManU interested in Rojo, Blind and Di Maria. Van Gaal has €100 millions left to spend after ManU spent the same amount on Herrera and Shaw. Another kick in the ass to Platini's FFP.

United are well in compliance with FFP even if they spend all that money and more.

  17. Someone i follow on twitter that knows some players (Called the Mata transfer before the media picked up on it, has an amusing personal beef with Tom Cleverley) said a big transfer coming to United by next Friday. No name but Id be surprised if it was one of the names thrown around recently. Rojo and Blind could be on their way too.

  18. A guy can dream lol

    Damn guys lol

I more concerned with grabbing Carvalho or Sami at this points. We would seriously take a step at that point. We can already contend now

It's the same as United buying Vidal.

A south American that will probably sign is Marcos Rojo, who is a clever signing IMO.

  19. Why would you want Hummels when you can have the 'best defender in the World EVER' for £ 10 million?  ;)

    Hail.

Hummels going anywhere but Madrid, Barca or Bayern is an utter and complete fantasy.

  20. The French international would yield €30.5 millions to FC Porto who recruited him for €7.5 millions from Standard Liege in 2011 and held 57.67% of his rights. The Citizens have also paid €23.3 millions to redeem the shares held by investment groups Robi Dean Sports Plus.

Total cost of the transaction: €53.8 millions !

Those sheiks will never get it, LOL. The hell to Platini's FP.

Usually when I'm reading a transfer story and the words "from Porto" appear in it 9/10 it's a very good player at the very least. Best scouting club in world football IMO.

  21. So something I couldn't help thinking about.  Real went through Dortmund and Bayern in CL.  Now The first game for Dortmund was at Real with no Lewandowski.  They loss 3-0.  They played back in Dortmund and won 2-0 and would have won 3-0 if not for a horrible miss on a open net.  So Dortmund basically was inches away from tying the aggregate at home.  Now Real won at home then demolished Bayern on the road.  What do you attribute that to?  Dortmund talent wise is quite a bit far behind Bayern which is packed with stars and the german national team.

I think Real demolishing Bayern like that was a bit of an anomaly and if Mikhtarian doesnt miss an open goal Real don't even go through. They're not as dominant a team as the results against Bayern would suggest and if you put them up against Barcelona's teams from 09-11 it's not even close.
