This is pretty cool video of what they are calling the gutsiest FG in NFL History. Nice build up and brings back memories of some great Washington players from the 1970s. I could not think of anywhere to put this but it's not worth a new thread. Enjoy!

Oh come on, man. In each one of those games (except the one where he started vs Atlanta) he literally threw one pass. You can't possibly say going in and throwing one pass during a game actually counts as "game tape".

well, I mean, strictly speaking o_0...

I'll admit that I just read he appeared in 6 games....lol didn't realize it was just one pass....but now we are just arguing semantics...0_o...j/k

I said that I wasn't saying Heinicke didn't play well.

And what other film did they have on Heinicke?

During the 2018 season he appeared in six games with the Panthers

But we also have to realize that a defense not really knowing what to expect from a QB is a pretty big advantage.

agreed, and again conversely, the Bowles coached number 6 defense in the NFL were playing against an UDFA who was a back up in the XFL...so, even though they didn't have a lot of game tape (which isn't the end all be all..eg. all the film opposing Ds have on Brady, Aaron, Brees, etc.etc.)  I think anyone going into this playoff game would have thought/bet that it was actually the Bucs who had the big advantage...what no one expected or could qualify/quantify was Heinicke being a gamer...

anyhoo...just being a contrarian so I have more to read in this thread : ) HTTR!!!

Why? TB basically had zero film on him and zero clue how the offense would be run with him playing so they probably didn't have much of a game plan.

That doesn't mean that Heinicke didn't play well, but it does give an advantage and we've seen it happen many times in the past when new guys come in. That's why most people usually say "He played well but let's wait and see what happens after teams have some film on him".

But it seems some people don't feel that the "wait and see" approach applies to Heinicke The Great.

conversely (playing devil's advocate), as you are well aware of, Heinicke hadn't been in the league since 2018, was signed to the Redskins in early December while he was studying for finals, wasn't signed to the active roster until December 19th, only had a week taking starter snaps in practice and started in a playoff game against the 6th ranked defense in the league and still played lights out...almost pulled off an upset...and I'd argue that Tampa had film (not basically zero or clue how the offense would run) on Heinicke and knew what to expect to a certain degree...Arians, “I kind of kept preaching at them, this kid can run, he can do a lot of things...We knew he was going to scramble around [and] there was going to be bootlegs and scrambles. We were really hoping for Alex because we knew that part of the game wasn’t going to be in there."...

I would have been more specific if I knew there was a troll with 14 posts lurking around for an argument.  But I was talking about his weight and as he's been listed as high as 221.  Heinicke said himself he's more 200 and looking to bulk up to help stay off the injury front.  But solid trolling jackass

This is why we're extreme, I'm probably the only one to think this is why I'm not putting any stock in Heinicke performance.  The Bucs never seen him play and had no film on him.  Just like the first game against the Chiefs, the Bucs Defense was getting burned.  Now look at what happened in the second game after they figured Mahomes and the Chiefs Offense out.  This is why you don't judge off of 1 game.

True...but even still...the kid balled out...most fun surprise I’ve had as a redskin since Timmy smith...ok hopefully not a Timmy smith career...or life...but one of the most unexpected showings since the scrub team beating the cowboys...

Wentz is an injury waiting to happen...I don't even think he qualifies as "fools gold" because his numbers and intangibles have declined so fast. Stay away.

I know...right?...how weird his decline was...off the cliff...and all the eagles I kno would be happy to get rid of his ass...n I quote...”I don’t give a **** about his ass. Shoulda [sic] ****ing got rid of his ass last year!”

This is just not true. We still have fans referencing Trent Dilfer or Gibbs' 3 rings with 3 different QBs, there is still a large population of the fan base that still believes the way to go is build a great roster and then slap on a mediocre QB.  This still boggles my mind but that opinion is pretty active.

yes, but Gibbs is the only coach in NFL history to win with three different QBs...ever...hell, I can't think, off the top of my head, of any franchise that has won with three different QBs...so to be able to do what Gibbs did you need HoF Hogs...
