the sports media is mainly about hyping themes up when they seem workable to keep viewers engaged ...it's just the basics...seize whatever theme is sellable in their minds and amplify/run with it while still trying to be credible in the process

what i'm saying here is media has an agenda all their own, and of course i'm not suggesting it's all built on deception---not even close---it's about highlighting and often spinning to serve a storyline

over and over and over, people tend to use most media sources in a certain manner...the post it when the piece serves their argument or position and criticize or minimize or flat out dismiss the same sources when they don't

the sports media in particular has to sell personalities, excitement, interest, and any form of intrigue or controversy they can find and every year we have 'media-hyped' storylines that don't see fruition and often even go in an opposite direction...and those same sources will then say "well that's the nfl, ya never know, everything looked like it was going this way and then it didn't", and they're still being fair enough in doing so

even facts stats and data will often get spun or just presented without all relevant context for a solid analysis

this is it about not blowing off justified praise for th to be clear again, of which there is  a lot, or sayin 'don't believe anything they say'...i'm being mindful of reality

we have eyes, brains, and watch football a lot ourselves, but we're also more emotionally-driven when it comes to sports and detaching from that for objective analysis isn't that much of a norm ime, especially when hot button topics like head coaches,, owners, qbs and high draft picks etc. are the focus of the story

just fwiw as i see so many articles being 'put into evidence'

without inferring anything about the sources, i know that many pick any halfway decent source and post it if it supports the view, yet the same folks don't routinely use that source (or often any others) in arguments where they're not all 'energized' by emotion

in the meantime, this view of mine will not affect my enjoyment, appreciation, or hope for th to be the guy...who really wouldn't if he can do it? :)

Yes, I believe it’s innate…200,000+ years of tribalism vrs less than 10,000 years of “civilization”…and any programming/propaganda, be it for money or control, knows that “us against them”(tribalism) in any capacity is how you acheive your goals…from macro to micro…

I saw him out there and I love his potential. He is not a "star" but he is the niles paul like glue guy every team needs. His blocking is great, he is a constant on special teams and he has the chance to contribute a little bit as a receiver, especially in an injury environment.

Loved the pick when we made it. Everything does not need to be flashy, need those lunch-pail guys who get dirty.

Plus he had his rookie "protect the football" moment today w/o hurting us. He valued the ball like a Bitcoin wallet on his next catch.

I think the excitement is driven by the fact that every time he lets it go, it makes everyone nervous.  If not for the other team picking it, the safety of our receivers.  There are times he delivers it, the TD to Terry to qualifies exciting.  But outside of that did anyone ever really feel we were a threat to win?

It may not seem like it, but I like Heineke and don’t care if they give him the whole season to play.  But his stock is way down for me as far as being intrigued.

Isn’t this just his 9th or 10th start?…less than a year ago he was

I'm just happy that we've got someone who can make bull**** plays.

For years and years every time Fox goes to a game break and Terry's like "Over here in New Orleans we've got THIS PLAY...." and it's some ****ing miracle ass **** that makes NO sense, some quarterback throwing from his ass to a wide receiver who's inexplicably open and rumbles for 40 yards and a TD...

And I'm always like "Damn, why can't we have THAT?"  We're always the team on the other end of it, standing around with our dicks in our hands while the other teams QB threw it from his ass and we whiffed on like 305196 tackles while their guy goes in for the score.

No, he's not perfect, yes he's made some dangerous throws but we've won two games this year because of him.

I'll tell you guys something else, a lot of you act like you were born on 3rd base when it comes to being football fans.  Just because some of you can remember the 80s you act like **** ain't good enough, completely ignoring precisely how ****ty this franchise has been since the mid 90s.  I'm not saying Heinicke is the savior and he's not perfect but he's fun and for 3 out of 4 games this year we've had a chance to win with him at the helm.

From what I can tell most of us who remember the 70s n 80s love this guy…let’s face it even in the 70s n 80s we didn’t have “elite” qbs…

how good were they expected to be?

depends...we, or at least I, haven't even seen Samuels in a Football Team Uniform...not one training camp snap...but watching his highlights and chemistry with Teddy Bridgewarter (Tedd and Heinicke are better QBs off schedule...that's usually when they make more than half their big plays...still, all good!!), along with Samuel's obvious familiarity with Turner's offense (the Turner's, since Troy Aikeman, always stick to their "scheme"...they seem to never adapt...but, in their defense of their offense, when they have the horses...in their right positions Super Bowls follow...i.e. strategy is sound but so precise(ish)?) you have to have such a high/elite two of the the three positions or their offense is just average...it's like catching lightenin' in a bottle...or three HoF in three drafts...which scares me...but I digress...)...Jesus where was I??...

Oh yeah! I believe/hope that maybe, just maybe, Curtis is the missing piece in the Turner Pie...I can definitely envision a Heinicke, Curtis, Gibson, Logan Thomas attack, along with just an average defense, giving us an exciting season...with a legit top 10 D...Back to Back NFCE Championships...for the first time since 1982, 83',84'...

To make a drunken rant short...get Curtis...beat the Falcons...JDR coach'em up like you always do...an we are still a team that no one will want to play in the paloffs...HTTR!!!

  7. Taylor is going to be fine…it was just his second or third start (on the road in windy conditions)…the offense needs to cater to his ability…and the defense needs to drop bostic, pull Collins in the box ( to attack, occupy or cover the rb/te) and put curl as safety…we need to bump the receivers at the line and throw of all these timing routes…blitz a little more…dL stay in their lanes…etc etc

The giants have exposed a weakness in our defense with Daniel Jones running nine times for 9.5 yards a pop. Buffalo will undoubtedly look to exploit that weakness with the shifty Josh Allen. I'm hoping they can learn from their mistakes.

Agree. I still believe in D coordinators having enough film on a guy to take away what he likes to do and force him to do things he doesn’t. I don’t think they have that kinda tape in Hein yet. So I’m very very curious to see what happens when they do.

Yes, but d coordinators have 20 years of tape on Brady…12 years on Rodgers…8 years on Russel…17 on Big Ben…3 or 4 on mahomes…had plenty of years on brees..he’ll 10 plus on Alex smith and he still won…I know what you are saying but sometimes all the film in the world won’t help…let’s hope he’s like that..he’s definitely smart/savvy enough to keep them guessing…and he actually pump fakes…which I believe is a lost art…hell he’s pretty good at play action too…HTTR!!!!

I didn’t watch any tape. The first I saw of him was his first appearance against the Vikes. I turned the TV off after the first 2 drives. That was the worst QB play I had ever seen. There’s no way anybody with any aptitude could play that poorly. I’ve seen journeymen QBs freshly signed off the street earlier in the week show more.

Kdawg and I saw problems right away.  Go check my comments if you want.  Haskin's footwork was awful.  He didn't have a lot of air yards at OSU.  I mean, he basically threw screens mostly.  In practice there were reports from multiple sources (including players) that DH wasn't getting in the playbook.

He was an Ohio st qb too…

Not seeing the delay of game penalties like we saw with previous QB's.

I noticed that too…he’s definitely on point… it’s the little things that makes anyone successful in anything(s)…always has been…

He had the offence playing with pace. Some drives were obviously scripted for hurry up…. But Taylor also sped up the huddle when the offence had momentum and he noticed the defence lagging/tired. He exploited that.

    Audibled too…who knew a qb could audible??!…qb sneak…outrageous…

If this team stays healthy, especially at RB with Gibson and doesn't win 9 games this season it would be an utter failure to me.  They have a better team than they had last year plus players that should play better in their 2nd and 3rd years and having a 2nd year under this coaching regime.  That's JMO though.  :)

Agreed, however, I wonder how many teams that won their division and had a first place schedule came back and won their division again and/or made the playoffs wqithin the last 10-15 years?...50%...30%...or just the tree or four teams that always win their division?...
