    Barking isn’t necessarily leadership.

    The part above...

    About his teammates not listening?

That means, to that point, he wasn’t a leader.

Again, he improved since and things seemed to turn around. But he did not display, in my opinion, leadership qualities last season.

Doesnt mean he can’t. Doesn’t mean the situation didn’t dictate that. But, he has a lot to show on that front in my opinion.

What Peyton Manning got high praise for, telling people where to be, and trying to motivate his teammates in the huddle, that’s what I call barking.  His teammates weren’t listening because he hadn’t proven himself.  He was still a backup in the instance I’m referring to.  When you start balling, your teammates respect you.

The arm and confidence I see.

The leadership I don’t. What examples have we seen of this? He very well could be a leader... he was a rookie and well behind the curve, so he may blossom into it. But have we seen this to tout it as one of his qualities currently? I’m genuinely asking.

To me, when I see him going over and talking to his teammates after something bad happens, even though he’s a rookie, and players didn’t seem to want to listen.  I see that as leadership quality.  When he goes over and asks his linemen what he can do to help them, that’s the kind of thing a leader does.  The reason you don’t see him barking at people in year one, is because he’s a rookie, and because he doesn’t have command of the offense yet.  I think that will change in year two and three.

There is something special about Haskins.  Don’t give up on this guy.  You can quote me on that.  If I were in media I would put my reputation on the line.  I evaluate talent pretty well.  And the guys you want to hang on to, are the ones who possess things you can’t teach.  Haskins has those things.  Superior arm talent, confidence, and leadership.

I won’t write a huge evaluation on him.  But, like I said, just wait and see.  I don’t think moving OConell was a good move.  It’s like people say, it takes a village to raise a child.  Having the right people around him was important.  But I still see him thriving.

Which Blade are we talking about here?  Blade 3?  Yes.  Blade 1 and 2, no, but they're such different genres it's hard to compare.  Major League is a fun sports movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.

But I've got one that I like more than those.  Demolition Man.

Simon Phoenix was cool.  And yes Blade 1 and 2 outclass 3.  But at the time I think they were talking about Blade 1.  I liked Major League 2 better than 1.  Especially the disgruntled fan, he was hilarious.

I appreciate the clip.  But could there be a more boring, uninteresting, and less credible show than The Daily Line?  And then when the little guy on there said Major League was a better Wesley Snipes movie than Blade, they completely lost me.

I like that they talk local sports sometimes.  But I hope the show gets canned.

Maybe... but let me give you an alternative take:

”I was a big fan of his coming out”

The Redskins screwed my dad 20 years ago and I'm working my way into the organization to take them down from the inside, MWHAAHAA

“he got better as the year went on”

You thought the swinging gate was bad? Please child... wait to see what I've got cooking

I want to be mad at this but I can’t. 😄

So we’ll see if this is like starting over again for Dwayne.  What can I say.....

We've had consistency for 6 years, and what did that get us?

Consistency is absolutely worthless unless paired with ability.

Right, and consistency paired with ability is what you had with OConell and Haskins.  Accounted for two of the three wins.  But I’m not arguing it anymore.

What starting QB of the Redskins was not a polarizing figure? Maybe Theisman in year 2 and 3 of Gibbs, a few years of Sonny and then Sammy Baugh. That’s it.

Rypien, I think everybody liked him, right?

Think about what you're saying, really.

If it goes phenominal with Haskins and Turner...no matter what, it would have definitely been even better with KOC?

    That's just irrational.

I’m just a big advocate of consistency.  And I think you have a rare opportunity to maintain that with OConell.  But he’s gone, so it doesn’t matter.

  10. 1 minute ago, SoCalSkins said:

Obviously. The only way Haskins is here longer is if he turns into a franchise QB wins a super bowl and Ron retires.  Otherwise Ron will get rid of him next off season and bring in his own QB. Could be sooner depending on how Haskins acts in the off-season.

Ron isn’t going to keep a guy who isn’t 100% committed and who he didn’t draft. Dan will fully support Ron. He brought him in to change culture. And won’t turn on him until Ron picks his own QB and that dude becomes a bust.

Okay.  But this is Haskins second year.  They will give him time, especially if he’s starting a new system.  If he struggles early, people will probably attribute it more to the style of offense and his unfamiliarity with it.  Whereas if OConell stays, there’s less room for error.

Well see.  Im giving my opinion.  I didn’t say I’m always right.  But that’s what makes sense to me.  Common sense.

  11. 17 minutes ago, SoCalSkins said:

He’s not Ron’s draft choice. Ron isn’t building a staff or team around Haskins. He’s building his own staff. Ron is going to give Haskins a plan and one chance to buy in. It’s up to Haskins if he wants it or not.  Gibbs with Patrick Ramsey is probably the best comparison. Don’t get too attached to Haskins...

So you think Ron will be here longer than Haskins?

That's entirely up to Haskins. No one can do it for him.

These changes don’t help.  And I wasn’t even beating the Haskins drum from the beginning.  But I like his progress.

Right. So you're saying even if Turner succeeds in helping develop Haskins into a worthy franchise QB and we have a good offense...no matter what, with plenty of evidence to the contrary at that point, KOC would have been the better hire?

    That makes no sense.

It does.  I said if it’s phenomenal or terrible.

I think having a strong grasp of one system before moving onto another would be better for his development.

    ...no matter what happens?

If Dwayne has a phenomenal year and such, or a terrible one.  I just think OConell would have been better for his development.  We’ve seen in Washington what changing systems frequently can do to even veteran quarterbacks.

Sure, I personally really want to draft Young so I'm likely biased. Hard to imagine what could happen, I can't think of another draft with this kind of situation. Typically it's always the generational QB everyone is striving to pick at 1, Young throws a wrench into the normal thought process.

I feel it’s more like Tua who throws a wrench in.  Because now the Bengals have to choose between Tua or Burrow, right?
