The problem the team has is it lost an entire generation.  So many young fans didn't follow their parents passion and found other teams.  A 20 year old probably already has his/her team and no amount of winning will make that change.  The immediate impact will be a boost for sure but it will take a long time before it gets back to where it once was, if that even ever happens.

Oh yeah, it will probably take at least a full decade of consistent success just to lay a solid foundation to build off of. We’re talking probably another 20 to 30 years to get it back to where it once was.

    Our market...a Value based on..

a dominant nfc east from the 1970-90s

a dc team that didnt have the ravens or the panthers

Why do people say  we have such a "great market"? DC is such a transient town. We are barely holding onto VA and 3/4 of their blasphemous population are cowboys fans because of the devils mid 90s super bowls.

DC market is ****. VA is your market and they are hanging on by a thread

This is not true at all. The past 30 years have significantly dampened passion for the team, but it’s still surprisingly resilient despite Snyder doing everything he can to destroy it. The last decade especially has taken its toll, but if you went to a game as recently as 2012 the stadium was rocking.

3/4 of VA’s “blasphemous” population is not Cowboys fans, and I see less of them every year. I think the Cowboys’ mediocrity is taking a toll on their national fan base as well.

As far as the market goes, northern VA has a large population with some of the richest and most powerful counties in the nation. Add Maryland’s population to the north and a good team that’s fun to root for has a great opportunity to make a lot of money here.

Thanks, interesting links for sure. That leaders.com one seems to actually back up what I was saying about treating people well. Companies with high empathy within their culture outperform companies with low empathy by large margins in various categories.

That really makes sense when you think about it. Consistency is necessary for a team in any profession to be successful, and good people aren’t going to stick around long if they aren’t treated well. The Washington Redskins/Commanders under Dan are sadly a great example of what happens to an organization with low empathy.

I just had a paranoid thought...what is Snyder moves the 'Manders to London instead of selling? The NFL could then claim that he's immune to prosecution since he's in a different country. That way they get the London team they've always wanted and get Snyder out of the limelight.

Yeah, I get paranoid for no reason sometimes...🤔

Don’t be too afraid of that. If Snyder refuses to sell and moving the Commanders to London is the only other way to get rid of him, I’d welcome it. It would beat living in mediocrity for the next 30 to 40 years. In the long run DC is an attractive market, so we would get a relocation or expansion team, and we would probably see success sooner than if he stayed.

"Likely" be Howell in 2023. Meaning, we probably aren't going to be able to acquire a quality vet and we don't draft high enough to land a top notch rookie.

I still think we can get a decent OC though. We have weapons at WR and RB that should entice someone. Plus, any ambitious OC might be looking at it like "Man if I can turn a 5th round pick in Sam Howell into a quality QB, I'll have my pick of HC jobs in 2024 regardless of what happens to Rivera in D.C."

If we shore up our offensive line I think we’ll make progress over this year. Good pass blocking can make a mediocre/decent QB look great if he has some weapons (which like you pointed out we do). Dak Prescott’s first few years starting where he built his reputation is a good example of this.

The thing stadiums are doing nowadays are being built as the center of a 365 day a year facility with shops, stores, movie theaters, etc.

That ensures a constant revenue stream and can make up for some of the cost of the stadium (initial and maintenance).

If the Commanders are smart they would be researching ways to accomplish that. I’m not sure DC proper/RFK site could accommodate that. But there may be a spot somewhere in there. And if there is it is my preference.

I think that was the idea behind the Woodbridge location. No metro access there is a deal breaker for me though, public transportation is necessary for a stadium.

If there was a way to fit it in with Nats Park and Audi field that would be great.
