There’s an academic looking middle eastern guy on CNN that’s completely delusional. He’s on TV saying that the US has proven to be bad at war in the global south. Also that Hezbollah, who he describes as being very sophisticated and powerful, wouldn’t be dissuaded by the US threatening them.Look I get that the US isn’t awesome at nation building, bad at war? I’ve heard a lot of wild statements but BAD AT WAR?
The US is not necessarily bad at nation building either, Japan and Germany became two economic powerhouses with our help in the decades after WWII. We didn’t replicate that level of success in Iraq, and it was a rough journey, but in the end Iraq is a functional, relatively peaceful country that isn’t threatening its neighbors with invasion anymore. Afghanistan is obviously an F on our nation building report card and it’s clear in retrospect that the US was the only thing holding the tribes together and propping up the government.

Hamas has spent years digging surprisingly sophisticated tunnels throughout Gaza and building up fortified defenses…
Yeah, this is going to be a horrific invasion.

I don't see how there's going to be any reconciliation coming.
As a parent words cannot express a response to this.

I suspect the hope was that excessive retaliation by Israel would bring in neighboring Arab states for some type of "final war". There's always nutjobs with their visions of Armageddon
Influence from Iran makes sense to me. I’m also wondering if they thought they could avoid retaliation if they took enough hostages as insurance. Perhaps the Hamas leadership wanted some death, destruction, and prisoners to exchange or use as shields, but they underestimated the horror their cohorts would display to Israel and the world. So they may have made a miscalculation and overplayed the terror hand. It’s not like they have individual control over the actions of every individual. -

I doubt the average American really gives a **** about the war; other than how this war may affect them. Ie, gas prices.
This has been going on for 75 years since the birth of Israel and will be going on for another 75 years.
Only way thus ends is one side completely wiping out the other side.
This is the sad reality and fundamental problem. Two groups of people who are not willing to coexist are claiming the same piece of land as their own. One will have to wipe and/or push the other out.

Judging from this Israel is going to occupy Gaza. 100,000 troops gives Israel the 1:20 ratio of troops to residents it needs for a successful occupation.

700 dead is a staggering number for Israel. I think other attacks barely get to double digits.
That’s not counting kidnappings. I keep seeing 100-200 taken back to Gaza as prisoners.

I haven't won the lottery. But as one of the few here who is truly financially secure enough to only work if they want to, I will say it gets old not working. I haven't figured which path I'm going down, but just doing whatever hobby I feel like that day is going to be ending sooner or later.
Yeah getting bored would be my struggle too. I think I’d continue my current career because I love what I do, invest most of the winnings, buy a house with cash in a good neighborhood, and enjoy a life of working because I want to, not because I need to.

QuoteHundreds of attendees at the Nova music festival ran across the plains of the Negev Desert near Urim, a community close to the Gaza Strip, trying to escape Hamas gunmen pursuing them in vehicles in a terrifying chase. Some were killed and others were seized by armed captors, social media videos showed…
Hearing the death toll from the attack at the music festival alone could be as high as 250.

This is brutal.
“She saw a number of dead and injured people on the sides of the road, but one stuck with her.
Another video shows that scene: one concertgoer was shot dead outside a van, and another dead in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
Gibly confirmed video obtained by CNN of the scene showed the two victims that she saw.
“It was so terrifying and we didn’t know where to drive to not meet those evil…people,” she said. “I have a lot of friends that got lost at the forest for a lot of hours and got shot like it was a range.”

Is it possible that the players sent a message to the new ownership that they want a coaching change? They knew the owner would be in his box
watching. How do you play so well against the Eagles and lay down for the Bears? Glad Magic Johnson sent out the tweet. He calls them as he
sees them.
Could be… the first half felt like someone put NyQuil in their Gatorade. I’ve never seen a team look so flat all at the same time.

The ball was behind him and the DB undercut it because he waited too long to throw and forced it into tight coverage.
It was a bad route, the receiver needs to angle back to the QB for this exact reason

What a bad route
