I am not confident in Jayden, Drake, or JJ.  For whatever reason, my heart wants Jayden over Maye and JJ.  Again, I don't like any of them.  Jayden is simply the lesser of three evils.

Whoever they pick will leave me feeling "meh."  But I hope he makes a complete fool of me by becoming a franchise-changing QB.

Added:  I think they will take Jayden.  OTOH, I would not be upset at all with a trade down for multiple high picks while still selecting a QB in the first round.

If you can't get excited over these QBs I have to wonder if you ever like any QB prospect.  You may be the only person I've read who has this take on the 3 QBs you mentioned.

Y'all are crazy. Harrison is so clearly and obviously WR1. Don't overthink it.

But I will say this WR depth is insane. We could find a legit day 1 starter at pick 67. I wouldn't even mind doubling down at WR. Just surround our new QB with young talent he can throw to for the next 5 years.

There has been a lot if talk, here and on another board, about trading back into the 1st round for a LT. Some even suggesting we use next year's #1.  I'm against that, if we trade picks we miss out on these types of players.

That doesn't look like an NFL QB to me.

I get the concern, but years ago the Cowboys got in trouble for picking guys who looked good in their underwear and not by the game tape.   It's not like Daniels has a big injury history so I'm going with the guy who looks special on the tape.  .

  4. Yeah I've also heard they will find the QB Kingsbury wants.    I understand the thought process but let's be honest, OCs leave teams faster than franchise QBs leave teams.  Same to some degree with head coaches.

Will this be the first year that the NFL does not break for a commercial before we pick?

That really is amazing isn't it?

Well, the first stage is denial

    LOL.

I went back and watched the YouTube of every Jayden Daniels throw and run from '23.  Honestly if anyone took the time to do that I don't see how you would not want him as your QB.  He does not escape trouble in the pocket the way Lamar does, but he obviously has great running ability.  He throws the ball really well. I have no idea where the concerns about arm strength and inaccuracy comes from.  The balls comes out so much more quickly than it does with Maye.  Sure they threw a ton of short passes but very few hit the ground, he throws a spectacular deep ball.  And of course he can flip the field with one big run.

Don’t know that I necessarily see a particular draft pick where it makes sense for us to take him after bringing in Ekeler — but I just spent some time on Troy Franklin, and good lord do I love Bucky Irving.

So much Sproles in that kid. Just impossible to bring down with the first man if he’s got time to get you lined up. So quick, so compact, exceptional finisher for a little guy.

He’ll end up on some team like Houston and will absolutely convert a few 3rd downs in big games for them before it’s said and down.

Sproles was one of my all time favorite players, he was so explosive. Ekeler is similar and I've always loved him too.  And like Sproles when he got to Philly I firmly believe Ekeler will be very productive for us this season.

The Will Levis one was especially tough.  You could see his girlfriend getting progressively more annoyed as the night went on.

The thing I remembered about that draft is they had a camera at the Kenny Picket household  They cut to them as it went into the 2nd half of the first round and it looked like someone had died.  I guess he expected to go top 10 which was nonsense, he went where he was mocked to go. That and his fake slide made him an easy guy for me to root against.

What are you talking about?  He had a 75 grade from PFF at RT as a rookie. He had a 72 grade juggling between RT and RG in '22, and played most of his snaps injured on top of that.  He's always been good and was one of the only legit good draft picks Ron made.  He would be fine at tackle too.  Last season was as much about him gaining veterancy, making it through the whole year healthy, and having some stability beside and behind him as anything.  He's one of the best athletes at OL in the league, he could definitely play RT.

This is why so many of us question the PFF grades.  We all saw Cosmi at RT, and just as was the case with Scherff it was obvious that Cosmi's best position was guard and not right tackle.  You put players in the best position to succeed, there was a reason he was moved to guard, so that's where he should stay in most people's opinion.

Watched my first game of Cole Bishop. Ill watch more. But first impression is wow is he a fun watch. Hes all over the field in the box, post, as a stand up pass rusher.

You can see his speed in pursuit sideline to sideline. Big time motor. Good complement to Chinn because he plays with similar oomph but is better in coverage than Chinn.

This is the exact type of player they may miss out on if they use picks to move into Round 1 for a LT.  I'd prefer they keep all their bullets and draft a lot of guys at different positions.

Robert Griffin had amazing athletic ability too, and he would get destroyed back there & looked like he was exploding every time he got hit. Being able to run fast is not the same as knowing how to play QB.

I didn't see a lot of tape of Griffin using his athleticism to escape trouble in the pocket, he was famous for having horrible pocket presence and had no feel for pressure. I have however seen lot of tape of Daniels escaping trouble with his athleticism.

Statistically, Maye was better at avoiding sacks under pressure than either of the other two.

I have no idea how they keep these stats. But all you have to do is watch the games, Daniels' athleticism allows him to make amazing escapes, Maye holds the ball too long and obviously does not have the same athletic ability that Daniels has.

  12. To me the biggest difference is the ability to escape pressure in the pocket. In today's game this is a really valuable skill. Daniels has the athletic ability to escape, if you watch the complete games with Maye he does not have that ability, clearly not at the same level as Daniels and Williams.  In fact he tends to drift into sacks and IMO that is more instinct that you are born with and coaching won't help all that much.

I would make that trade for #9 and I’d be happy with best tackle available at #40 or even #76 because there will be someone there we like like Kiran or Fisher

I don't want to part with next year's first, As temping as those 2 additions would be I also don't want 2 of our best players (potentially) having their contracts up the same year.

I've always wanted to see a clip of a war room, preferably our team, and this is the first one I've seen so thanks for that.  Love to see more of these.

Finally settled on an NFL comp for Tez Walker: George Pickens.  Stupidly talented, but isn't a very serious player and has the kind of flaws that make you want to write him off.  So talented that you can't do it though.

Obviously has strong concerns about his hands and his overall focus and competitiveness.  Strong concerns about the quality of his route tree and the effort he gives.  But he's 6'2 with ridiculously long arms, a 40 inch vertical, and a 4.36 40.  He's a 98th percentile athlete for an NFL receiver.

If you can (and should) give Drake Maye a pass for the dysfunction of UNCs offense last year, Tez deserves some grace too.

He can work on his hands and his chemistry with Maye over time.  What can't be developed is his god given speed and catch radius.  He's gotta be in play somewhere in the second, and if he makes it to our pick in the third, why not take the swing?

This reminds me of the way Dallas used to draft. They fell in love with guys because of how they did in drills and how they looked in their underwear and dismissed so much of what was seen on the game tape.  Not running good routes, questionable hands and work ethic is enough to make me pass.

This explains the special teams signings. that i was scratching my head about

When I first saw the new rule I pushed back, it looked like they were turning the NFL into a clown show. But once I got past the optics I love this new rule, it adds excitement.  Then I immediately thought about our new Teams coach and all the signings specifically targeting good special teams players and I think the new rule will be an advantage for us.  Suddenly kick returners hold value again and it could affect who teams draft in the later rounds.

Okay. So, being compared to players means they're starters? I also didn't realize being a starter for the Arkansas OL was such a huge endorsement. I wonder why he was passed over by all the teams in need of a starting center. Hell, he couldn't even start on our line.

You may have felt this way at the time and have been proven right so far but a lot of this is revisionist history.  He was after all the SEC OL Of The Year and that can't be ignored.  That's hard to do playing for a program like Arkansas so his play must have stood out.  I clearly remember (for what they are worth) several draft sites saying he was a solid center prospect.

Remember theres a new kick off format now, so it might be that for once we’ll be ahead of the curve in trying to field players that give us an edge in one part of the game.

Yeah what is the change again? I forgot.
