  1. Barnett has always been good, its not like he started losing a lot of fight his just been inactive for a while.

Yeah, I didn't really mean to disrespect Barnett by saying Rogers was bad.

The winner of this tournament in all likely hood is gonna fight for the UFC championship, I feel who ever wins the tournament has a solid chance of beating JDS (I think JDS is going to beat Cain).

Yeah, that sounds pretty reasonable. I agree with the JDS over Cain prediction, though JDS would probably still be a solid betting favorite against any of the 4 remaining guys if that's how it plays out. Despite the lackluster performance tonight by Overeem, if Silva is able to beat him then it'll definitely bring him up closer to JDS in my mind at least.

  2. Barnett did look good, but I mean he beat Rogers...

Rogers lost 3 out of his last 4 and his resume prior to that wasn't amazing.

Barnett could tap Velasquez and JDS. Overeem is a bad match for JDS on paper and SIlva has a solid skill set with tremendous size which makes him difficult for anyone. Sergei I feel would lose but I would like to see him fight someone like Shane.

I don't know, I hate dealing in the world of coulds and what-ifs and such.

Maybe with the purchase of Strikeforce we'll get some matchups to settle this stuff. I don't have nearly the faith in some of these guys as you do.

  3. Hell ya, he was suppose to be destroyed in the first round. I was actually impressed by Werdum's improved striking. He actually out landed Overeem. Bigfoot can definitely win against Overeem.

Yeah, I was actually impressed with Werdum's striking also, and really disappointed in Overeem's striking.

The problem is they both looked bad when it came to their own strengths.

lol @ frank shamrock proclaiming that the winner of this tournament is the best HW in the world.

  4. I kind of feel bad for Rashad, should have been Evans vs. Jones.

I don't even really like Rashad but the way it played out it, it almost seems like Jones ducked him. I'm not saying he's scared of Rashad or he would lose (I don't think he would) but the way this played out is kind of lame.

  5. He kept the presence of mind to get his forearm up and show the ref he was conscious despite being trapped and pounded. I'd have stopped it but Shane proved a lot tonight in a one-sided loss.

Well, yeah it was a natural human response to put your hand in front of your face while someone is beating you senseless. He wasn't doing anything to escape the punches though.

Don't get me wrong, he's amazingly tough and showed heart, but it should have obviously been ended.

  6. JDS vs. Cain will be a great title fight.

I got a bit annoyed with Rogan bringing up Carwin's will to escape the first round. It really had nothing to do with anything he did, it had to do with Herb Dean simply refusing to stop it while he got his face beat in without really much defense.

  7. they don't understand that submission attempts or strikes landed from the bottom count as points.

edit: dana tweeted about Omigawa being robbed as well.

Right on queue, White just tweeted "And just for the record omigawa will get his win money cause he WON THAT FIGHT!!!!"

  8. Ortiz is a good upcoming fighter, but he's a massive underdog to Mayweather. No one should pretend it's a brave decision to take a fight with him when he could cement his legacy and make double the money by fighting Manny.

Victor Ortiz's manager has confirmed to me that Ortiz will be facing Floyd Mayweather on Sept. 17.

So he turns down 65 million to fight Manny, and instead will go after Ortiz. I guess the idea of being undefeated means more to him than money, but boxing historians are always going to bring this up if they never meet.

Mayweather defenders will keep making excuses for him but for the vast majority of people, the more Manny's people push for the fight and the more Floyd runs away from it, the more it tarnishes his legacy. It's better to have a few loses and have the reputation of going after the best every chance you get than to be undefeated and be known for ducking a few key fighters.

  10. Ramsey just got his *** beat.

    ---------- Post added June-4th-2011 at 11:38 PM ----------

The thing I thought the whole season watching Ramsey is that he just overwhelmed a lot of the guys he fought, guys that weren't really UFC quality fighters. It was a weak season in general and if you have a decent fighter who doesn't panic and feel overwhelmed from Ramsey coming at you, he wasn't that impressive.

  11. Seriously, no one in their right mind expected him to win, he was just there to collect a check. I mean he's a fighter and he always wants to win, but his desire to not get knocked out was greater. =p

  12. I was surprised the corner threw in the towel. I mean he was taking a beating in that round but I don't think he was quite to the point of risking any permanent injury and two of the judges cards had it a draw up to that point.

Anyways, I'll say Manny by TKO in the 10th.

Also, where is there always one rogue judge whose scorecard is so out of whack of the other judges and common sense? I see it in boxing and mma.

lol @ the dummies in the arena who start booing during the national anthem when they flash Mosley on the big screen then realize what they're doing it.
