  1. i wouldn't have a problem with matchmaking if the system were transparent. the UFC doesn't list any official rankings, the closes we get to official is Dana spouting off about how various fighter is top 5 when its time for them to get a title shot. my biggest gripe is not with the matchmaking, its with the rankings. as long as they keep the rankings private, they can pretty much manipulate them however they want.
  2. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6849&zoneid=13 Thales Leites vs. Goran Reljic added to UFC 90 i'm surprised Reljic can even make 185, he looked pretty big for 205 when he TKO'd Gouveia
  3. just a heads up: CNBC will be covering most if not all of the boxing during the olympics. USA has a good shot a some medals in a couple of different weight-classes. Teddy Atlas thinks we can get 1 or 2 gold medals.
  4. depends on the type of promotion they put into it. despite being one of the best, Paul still doesn't have the name recognition with the casual fan. i seriously doubt 50% of net revenues would come close to 4mil though. its a damn good deal for Margarito imo.
  5. i'm not completely sure, but i think it means Margarito gets a guaranteed 4mil, & Paul Williams gets 50% of net revenues the most Margarito has ever gotten for a single fight was 1.6mil for the first match with Paul. he got 1.5mil for the cotto fight
  6. its definitely a pick'em fight. Arlovski has the edge standing, Barnett on the ground, but its not like either fighter is bad at any area. Both are well rounded enough to make this a hard fight to pick i try not to think much about the UFC's HW division. Outside of Big Nog, they don't have a top 5 HW. I can't wait to hear how Dana's gonna spin Mir getting a shot at the title
  7. this makes perfect sense. an argument could be made for either Arlovski or Barnett to fight Fedor, this will solve the issue the way it should be solved. Not to mention, this is a mega fight in its own right. its a pretty even matchup, i don't know who's going to win it.
  8. i think both Randy & Dana are equally responsible for their entire situation. Obviously Randy should've been making more, but at the end of the day, he signed the contract himself. Dana gave him a gift title shot that he didn't deserve, and he's essentially ducking Nog, who i think win a fight against Couture. I can understand him wanting to fight the best in the world, but he should clear out his own company before demanding fights with fighters from other promotions.
  9. Fedor doesn't have a problem fighting in a cage, hell i think a cage would actually benefit Fedor's game. the only thing keeping him out of the UFC is Dana's unwillingness to let him compete in Sambo competitions.
  10. this is the fight i want to see next :2cents:
  11. curse you for going against the man who finishes fights:laugh: 2 weeks good enough for the bet?
  12. i didn't make too much of it at first, but when i watched the fight a 2nd time, the stand-ups were definitely suspect anyone up for a sig bet for UFC 87, i'm taking "I Finish Fights", Lesnar, & GSP in the main fights. i'll sig bet on any of three
  13. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6822&zoneid=13 Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin @ UFC 90
  14. Yoshida vs. Karo at UFC 88 should be a good one if you like Judo throws
  15. i don't think him gassing was as important as him just not having much technique. Stann is pretty one-dimensional, he's a powerful puncher thats about it. Cantwell kept it standing and beat him with technique
  16. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/mma_experts/post/Is-Huerta-ready-to-leave-UFC-?urn=mma,98022 it'll be interesting to see if they work something out. Huerta only has 2 fights left on his contract, and Dana doesn't give title shots to fighters on the last fight of their contract. If they don't work out a deal, it could be awhile before Huerta gets a title shot
  17. Condit vs. Miura was a FOTY candidate, nothing but praise for that fight. Cantwell is going to be a beast in a few years, he's got a pretty good skillset to only be 21
  18. Margarito vs. Paul Williams rematch seems to be the best scenario if Paul can still make 147
  19. Judah will get slaughtered against Margarito. he doesn't deserve the shot, he doesn't deserve any shot, yet he still gets the shot...........unbelievable
  20. thats a problem alot of boxers have, they don't like admitting defeat on camera. the common themes for the loser of a decision is that they: were never hurt at anytime during the fight thought they were doing enough to get the decision that problem isn't exclusive to Zab, i just think its the nature of the sport. Especially now when a single loss can be devastating to a fighters career. I think Zab realized this was and should be his last shot to remain relevant.
  21. quick predictions for tonights WEC Card: Carlos Condit vs. Hiromitsu Miura: Condit by Submission, 2nd Round Jamie Varner vs. Marcus Hicks: Hicks by TKO, 3rd Round Brian Stann vs. Steve Cantwell: Stann by KO, 1st Round Brian Bowles vs. Damacio Page: Bowles by KO, 2nd Round Micah Miller vs. Josh Grispi: Miller by Unanimous Decision
  22. i wouldn't say he got punked, Clottey is the real deal in the welterweight division and will be a problem for anyone he faces at 147. Zab was still standing and trading before he cut. the Zab Judah of a couple of years ago would've folded up shop and did something stupid he is now officially a gate keeper though
  23. i would love to see a rematch between Clottey & Margarito. i thought Clottey was winning that fight until he broke his hands Clottey vs. Berto would also be good if Berto gets past Steve Forbes on Sept.27th. Margarito needs to fight Paul Williams or Josh Clottey next.
  24. 20lbs overnight is rare, but it has been done. it damn sure ain't healthy. 8-13lbs overnight is quite common though
  25. fighters cut to the lowest weight their body can sustain so they can be try to be the naturally stronger man in the ring cutting weight is a science than can be a tremendous advantage if done correctly, if not it can have devastating consequences
