Yeah, I think they're married to him still and can't afford the divorce.
-
Gotta really wonder about that. Seems out of character for CD.

Wow, Gausman put on waivers by Atlanta and picked up by Reds. Guess he's back to his consistenly inconsistent ways.

No trades for the Os? Somewhat surprised. Even the Tigers and Royals got in on the trading action. Not sure if Elias is being stingy on who he keeps or if this is more of an indictment on the level of our talent.

I'm going to both games in San Diego. Gonna be rocking the Brooks Robinson jersey.
Took a guided tour of their park a couple of weeks ago when I had a work function out there. Beautiful baseball park. Tour guide said they’ve only had three rainouts in the last five years or something like that. Amazing.

Fun game to watch. He was making the Sox hitters look silly especially early in the game. Gotta love that even though it puts us in a tie with Detroit for the #1 pick. 😝

And Cashners gone for a pair of 17 yr olds from the Red Sox. One of our two reliable pitchers.

It figures Means wouldn't get into the All-Star game. Not surprising I suppose, but disappointing anyways. Hopefully this doesn't become the only time he makes it there.

I think they should move CD to the bullpen. They're in desperate need of arms and that way he doesn't have to hit. Sounds like a win-win to me. Make him earn at least a little of that salary he's getting. 😆 He can hardly do worse than some of those guys out there.

Wow, that was close to an epic meltdown by the Os. Givens redeemed himself a bit, but that win was thanks to Severino. 3 dongs and throwing out the last runner at first after the wild pitch by Givens. Heck of a game young man.

Unreal. Look like they are trying hard for the #1 pick next year as well. Mancini looks like he’s playing his way off this train wreck. I’ll be sad to see him go.
-
Geeze Givens, really? O's fight back from 5-1 to tie it and you walk in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth. Wow.

And this is where a manager can help. He can teach these guys where to throw the ball. When to throw to this base or that base.
See this is what I don't get about the majors. I played baseball up through college and then coached my sons teams when they were growing up. We harped on this stuff all the time. Situational baseball and thinking about what you're going to do if/when the ball is hit to you. People act like these guys haven't played baseball and need to be taught, but these guys have been playing since they were young. They should know by now where to throw and when, etc. It's not like baseball changes significantly when you get to the majors. Just more of the same but faster and better. If someone shows up to the majors and doesn't know whent to throw it and where, I'd argue they'll never get it.
-
Just enjoying this team's fight. You can tell they try and they care. Last year felt like the team was just going through the motions. The young guys on the team are hungry and you can tell. Obviously they'll lose a lot of games but as long as they fight I'm good with it.

Did anyone know who held the record prior to CD getting close then setting the record? It won't really be talked about except by O's fans and eventually it will fade. I have no interest in engaging with the buyout/walkout conversation again.
Some stiff named Eugenio Velez.

Ugly AB by Davis in the 8th. The streak is alive another day.
I don’t understand his approach. He watches the first 2 strikes, a change up and fastball both right down the middle. Then the pitcher throws crap and gets him to chase. He gets to 0-2 and he might as well walk back to the dugout.

Lol they had a live look-in to the Davis at bat on ESPN. At least he hit it hard twice tonight.
Yeah was at Culver’s and they had the Yankees on. Did a split screen when Davis came up to bat. Pretty sad. And now 0-3 with another good swing but right at the outfielder.
-
Davis is 2 outs from tying and 3 outs from breaking the futility record. Might have his name immortalized. You’ll have the Mendoza line and the Davis streak.
-
Not too impressive of a start for Straily. Hopefully just a good day for the Yankees and he comes back strong.
-
Gotta wonder how much pressure it will put on him. Wouldn’t you maybe just try to bunt to break the streak? Will he though?
-
The countdown is now on to a possible epic failure by Chris Davis. Neaing the all-time record for hitless streak for a non-pitcher:

Just enjoying the ride so far. I figure it has to come to a stop at some point but who knows.
Maybe we should start a pool for when Davis actually gets his first hit this year. He could set a new all-time futility mark this year. Totally looks lost again/still/continually...

Yeah, probably April Fools Gold but I'll enjoy it while I can. Suck it Yankees!

But i think putting the solo movies out first which have all been very well received would have done so much more for their universe than what we ended up with.
🤣 I was trying to make the connection with "The Solo Movie" and the DCU movies. Doh.
