*Perhaps the deepest position of the 2024 draft IMO

Top Draftable OG’s (to my eyes)

    1.  Zak Zinter Michigan

    2.  Troy Fautanu Washington

    3.  Cooper Beebee Kansas State

    4.  Christian Mahogony Boston College *Underrated

    5.  Christian Haynes UConn

    6.  Javion Cohen Miami

    7.  Layden Robinson Texas A&M

    8.  Brandon Coleman TCU

    9.  Dominick Puni Kansas

    10.   Sataoa Laumea Utah

Just curious as to where I had Brandon Coleman ranked back in Feb - had him listed as a riser in the OT group.

I'd be surprised if Daniels even makes the team.

That is the perfect example of why you don't reach for a position of need in the draft.

Coleman was a 3rd round developmental draft pick with huge upside. I doubt they've put his name down in pen as a starter.

Daniels is a good athlete but my issue with him coming out was simply strength. Unless he has gotten a lot stronger in the offseason, I agree, he won't be around much longer.

I got to watch him more.  But based on that one game from this morning, I'd be very surprised if he's not a good guard.  i know he's a work in progress as a run blocker -- he needs to work on sustaining his blocks on that front.  But as a pass blocker, he has really strong hands and anchors well and IMO looks better suited to guard because to my eyes his weakness in pass protect is about moving laterally.

Not that am out on him at LT.  But I get it when some say good guard, question mark at tackle.  But just looking at him, he's built in a lab, both stocky, strong and fast.

He's a mid round pick for a reason. All these guys have flaws the longer you watch them. Latham and Alt are the most clean in my eyes followed by Fashanu and Fuaga.

  4. I'm not concerned about Coleman personally. I'm in awe someone that size can move as well as he does. My only issues are his hand usage needs to get better but it's not a liability and he struggles with inside moves, which is pretty common from what I can discern from doing this.

Weird question from someone who thinks it might be fun to participate next year:  I can't really break down film, does it still make sense to play?  Anybody man drafts for teams in this, and treat it more like a puzzle/strategy game while relying on outside evaluations (i.e. maybe I can't tell what players are going to be great via film, but I CAN research my team and positions and do a realistic job)?

Solution: follow my posts and rankings in the 2025 comprehensive draft thread :)

Also worthy of note: if I was GM I would have weighed trade options heavily and if I could have traded down to 4/5 I may have done so to acquire picks and take McCarthy + OL

That's what I would have explored too. It seems like we could have fleeced the Patriots - we know they've been enamored with Maye from the beginning.

I don't think its unreasonable to think that Peters may have loved Maye at the end of the season, but once he got to dive into Daniels(and I guess McCarthy) tape more he pivoted. Remember he emphasized how much he didn't really look at the QBs in that much detail when he was still with the 49ers.

I hope passing on Maye does not bite us in the butt cheeks down the road. I had my reservations about Maye, but there were certainly appealing aspects too.

  9. Too early for me to dive into this BUT:

These dudes I like a lot

    Howard Cross

    Tyleik Williams

    Patrick Payton

And please let us have OLB Jay Higgins on our radar. He reminds me somewhat of Patrick Willis one of my all-time favorite LB's

I'd feel vindication on your end as to how Peters felt.

Yep. I'm one of the few to have JJ their #2 (and to go on the record as such :) at the risk of much ridicule) so in that sense I do feel as though my assessment of him was not completely off-base - though it was Daniels who assumed that position for most of the duration. As you said though, only time will tell nobody has a crystal ball.

Oh everyone sees and evaluates differently. You could very well have seen things and perhaps others did and dinged him for it as well.

Actually, I think it's more of a hand placement thing, which led me to believe it was a strength concern.
