I hope they give up their first 2nd and middle 3rd.  It should take them to mid/late 20s and they can nab a LT, but they need insurance.  My take is they need to go big on Smith on a 1-year deal.

Trying to find a historic equivalent, this is the closest I found from 2022.  If no 3rd coming back, I could see 36, 78 getting to 22-24ish.  Although that includes Philly and Dallas (and Minnesota's new pick) so may lower the chances for that.  Maybe if Chargers get it they will pick with 11 and want to trade back from the 23...  lots of options there.

He had a 4 year $60mil $36 guaranteed contract and refused to take a pay cut, so they cut him. I assume he's looking for something similar, but I'd throw money at a one year contract.

Add to it McKinney just got 4/$67 with $23 million guaranteed.  Different players, but I'm sure that's part of the equation.

If they keep doing the void years (which I'm not sure I'm a big fan of) they could get those numbers to be pretty reasonable.  But it's a turn from the path they have taken so far.

I'm sorry, I've never been impressed with Barkley. I must be missing something here.

In college I saw it.   Not so much with the giants.

Guess we'll find out if it was because of the giants or Saquon in the NFL soon.

They are definitely cooking but I don't think this is accurate. After the first six picks ( one on night one and five on night two ) I don't think we pick again until pick 139 ( 5th round )

I believe we only had 1 4th, and traded one with Howell.  So I think you're right.

Edit: confirmed.  102 went back to Seattle.

Listening to Hoffman and he said it perfect.   "Ät this point Peters is not trying to raise the ceiling hes trying to raise the floor.  The ceiling will be raised through the draft."  Which is the way we should look at it.  Im thinking depending on the QB play and how well the FA's play were looking at 6-8 wins.  the moves def raise the floor 2 wins.

Also i think that Quinn/Whitt are gonna scheme a sum of the parts defense for now vs focusing on certain players like he did Parsons.

We were cellar dwellers so long.  It's nice to see daylight.

I know we signed Ertz but I'm still concerned about TE, it's been an area of weakness for a couple of years. Here's hoping that GMAP has his eyes on a good prospect and/or finds a hidden gem in the draft.

That said, very much looking forward to watching Peters go to work this draft, his first calling all the shots. Gotta expect TE at some point and possibly a late round project QB.

My gut feeling is he's done in the free agency phase for TE.  I imagine he'll get one more before the draft is over.

The Chargers have 2 hours to settle 33 milly in cap space. Personally I hope they free up one of their pass rushers. Would like a Bosa or Mack as a final sure up to our DE room.

After Williams cut, closer to 7 million.  A restructure is more likely I'd think to bridge that difference.

You folks should all be fired from your jobs. Mocking people because they like their food a certain way. Utterly preposterous. I pay my hard earned money just to get made fun of. Abhorrent customer service. I don't think I will ever go to a restaurant to buy steak ever again. Thanks for letting me know how judgmental waiters and cooks are. It's my stomach and my money. I'll wipe dog poo on my dag on steak and eat it if I feel like it.

Probably won't notice on a well done steak anyway.

We have to save some of this money to resign our own guys next season too right? Cant ever really cash out I guess.

I think Cosmi has the current argument for next offseason, but not a crazy contract.  There are several 1 year deal guys that could re-up and we may get arguments to the positive for St-Juste/Davis...maybe others.

But there is still like 100 million in space next year depending on what happens next.  Should be no concern if they want to keep anyone.

pumping the breaks and holding out to see who the cap casualties are would be a smart play.

It is the smart play.  Even though it's less fun after 2 days of constant news.

To be fair, 5 of the new FAs don't have a value added yet.  Biadasz (3.2 I think), Ertz (~3 guess), Ferrell (3.75), Fowler (Guessing 3) and Mariota (6mill).  So another ~19 will come off that number.

While they will certainly suffer for that strategy this season, next year they could be in line for a serious compensatory draft pick payday.

Given their cap situation and the probability that they will soon have to extend Dak’s contract and resign Parsons among others this is probably their best chess move.

Smith will likely make it a 4th (maybe 3rd).  So you're not wrong.

  13. Armstrong: $4.9m

    Biadiasz: $5m

    Luvu: $6m

    Allegretti: $3.6m

    Ekeler: $3.2m

    Ertz: $3m

    McManus: $3.5m

    Total: $29.2m

    Allegrati was ~3mill year one.

    Ferrell was 3.75 mil

    Mariota was 6 mil

    Fowler I haven't seen number,  assuming 3ish

    LS ott guessing 2

Chinn up to 5, call it 4.

Thinking 51 mil from top of about 95mil.  So I'm guessing about 44 mil left.   34 mil in space accounting for draft picks.

After first 7 this was in my head, so don't knock me too much if I'm off a bit.   Haha

Ertz's role to me will be the most interesting to see how it unfolds. I want to say he is going to be a major part of the offensive even though he is getting long in the tooth.

If they get a young guy, I think Ertz isn't that old.  Hopefully, we see a drop in snap count and solid results when he is on the field.

I remember after one of his first college games (I think it was actually the first one, but I’m not 100% sure on that), there were people on here talking about how we had to start the process of tanking so that we could have the first pick in a couple years and lock him up.

Ok, in fairness I meant in the NFL.  Haha.

It's bonus split out over 5 years (although there could be a year 2 bonus that is spread over final 4).

To hit 36, this is about 10 million off, so quick look it's likely about 5 and 5, that accelerates to 10 dead money that fourth year.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/washington-commanders/frankie-luvu-25901/#:~:text=Current Contract, carrying a cap hit of .&text=NFL contract specifics generally collected from verified reports.

I was thinking it was 3/36.  Math shown here with 3/31.  So 2.3 million for each of 2027 and 2028.

    edit: beat me to it.
