  1. Where did I say that I am mad about it? I just know its coming. Given his history, we will hear a lot about it. You can call him a cheater all you want, it won't make me angry. I'm also pretty sure you would love to have him on your team. It's strange how we want our opponents to be gentleman and the players on the team we support to be winners. Suarez may not always do it the right way, but he wants to win with every ounce of his ability and will do whatever it takes to win...

I wouldnt. He needs hundreds of chances to score, and he is too much of an individual player.

And no, he is a cheater. Why do you want to defend him? He handled the ball to score the GW goal against a 5th division side.

Most players want to win with every ounce of ability, but most of those players are not cheats like Suarez.

    USMNT January Camp

Forwards: Agudelo, Bruin, Buddle, E. Johnson, Wondolowski

Midfielders: - Beckerman, Bedoya, Davis, Diskerud, Evans, Feilhaber, Gatt, Zusi

D - Beitashour, Beltran, Besler, DeLaGarza, Gonzalez, Lade, Morales, Morrow, Parke

GKs - Hall, Hamid, S. Johnson

who do the US play this month?

  2. Great...here goes the next round of how Suarez is a cheat. I wonder how many times we will see the handball goal and the handball that saved the goal in the World Cup.

but he is a cheat? if you want to get upset at someone, get mad at Suarez for cheating.

  3. Has their been a bigger fraud in premiership football over the last 10-15 years than Martin [redacted for fear of a lawsuit]?

Dude has done nothing with Sunderland and cried about not getting enough money at Villa despite him buying crap and spending the 4th most money in the league during his time there.

And to top it off, he said he didnt rate Zlatan for no reason which has lead to a generation of English fans not realizing how great a talent Zlatan is. They took it from a guy who has a British-based players only transfer policy.

I am watching Arlo White on Youtube right now

My goodness I can't wait for NBC to get the games

He is no Darkey but he shows similar enthusiasm! He's great!

It's like listening to a British Gus johnson :ols:

Told you Arlo White is a beast. He has a golden voice too.

  4. His field goal percentage is the lowest in the league among qualifiers. I don't care how nice his shot may look, this guy's a dud. You simply cannot shoot any worse. Shouldn't we expect him to beat at least one ******* guy?

I said this before the draft, I said it at the beginning of the season, and you guys are seeing it now.

Cousins is not getting traded. The Maloofs are the ones who ended his suspension by going over the coach and GM's head.

  5. I think you're underselling Noel's physical attributes. The guy has a tremendous physical profile. He's not as powerful as Drummond, but Drummond is another type that has gotten fat before and carried some bad weight. Noel has an awesome frame and he's already started filling out some compared to where he was last year. He's already wiry strong and holds position pretty well. He's got big joints, long arms, and broad shoulders and looks like he can carry 240 to 250 with no loss in mobility.

I think he's a more explosive athlete than Drummond was. He's a bouncier athlete than Drummond. He'll give up length and strength to Drummond, but he's quicker. I think his raw skill set is as good as Drummond's. I think his intangibles are also better than Drummond's. Noel is an overachiever who has had success all his life and made an impact at every level of competition.

im not underselling Noel at all, its more about how amazing an athlete Drummond is.

Drummond was the fastest player on UConn' team last year. He is an explosive leaper, and a quick leaper. Drummond is an amazing athlete, especially when you remember that he is 275 lbs. And he has a 7'6" wingspan.

Drummond was more athletic than Dwight Howard was in 2004.

As a top 3/4 pick you'd be ok with Zeller? Not me. Now if Wall comes back and we end up in the 5-7 pick range, sure I'd be alright with it at this point.

in the 2013 NBA Draft, Zeller is a top 3/4 pick.

  6. I just know the Cavs will get Shabazz to pair him up with Irving.

Shabazz and Kyrie would be a bad pairing, imo. Kyrie needs to distribute the ball more to get the best out of that pairing.

Who could be good is Michael Carter-Williams and Kyrie. It would allow Kyrie to play off the ball a lot more and the Cavs not lose much with regards to back court size.

The problem with Carter-Williams is that Boeheim has a terrible history with churning out star NBA players.

Drummond has no back to the basket game. He's raw as hell on offense. Physically he's a prototype though and I agre Noel isn't on the same planet.

he has an up and under move which we dont even see Dwight use.

    Noel has nothing.

  7. I guess you missed the part where I said he would look fantastic in a different shade of Red. I never said he was going to Liverpool, only I would like to see him there.

im aware, which is why I laughed at the thought.

I only went further when you replied that "anything is possible," and cited Arsenal not keeping players as a reason in an attempt to escalate the possibility of Theo going to Liverpool. I then stated that players end up in better situations than Arsenal, and Liverpool isnt that.

You can take that for what it's worth. As far as I know, nothing is official. The window hasn't opened and no one has taken a physical...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20828488

Chelsea's interim manager Rafael Benitez said after his side's 8-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday that he believed Sturridge had travelled to Merseyside for a medical.

"The information I had was that he was there, passing the medical, but we don't have any more information," he added.

"Maybe he will come back to say hello, or goodbye. We will see. He's a good player. He has all the talent."

  8. Hey, anything's possible and with Arsenal's track record for keeping players....

players end up going to clubs that are in a better position than Arsenal. You know that isnt Liverpool, lets not kid ourselves here.

The only thing Liverpool can promise Theo is that he will play central striker, they wont be able to pay him or promise the chance at trophies. Its not happening, and I think Sturridge being signed by Liverpool shows they wont make a move for Theo.

  9. you must not just press and ball chase tho

You push your backline higher up to congest the field, and a player presses their zone if the ball is there, while his teammates mark the passing options.

Pressing is usually done in your attacking half.

  10. Who cares where it's based. They used their Spanish, German, and Brazilian correspondents among others. Go ahead come up with a list of 100 that is markedly different. Go ahead. I'd say you COULD conceivably come up with 4 players in Spain to swing it but the point is there that your orig statement is bogus. And you def won't find a dozen who'll swing it for Italy .

I give them credit for coming up with the names, but 27 premiership players smack of premiership bias and the non-English based names are the players you would expect to be named in one of these lists.

I do give credit for recognizing how good a team Shaktar is, but I wonder if they would have included those players before they outplayed Chelsea twice?

just curious? what would your list of world class players look like?

    for me?

    Buffon in goal

Marcelo at left back, Lahm at right back. Centerbacks would be Vidic and Thiago Silva

Busquets, Xavi, and Yaya in central midfield

Cronado, Cavani, and Messi up top

bench would have van Persie, Manuel Neur, Dani Alves, Iniesta, Sergio Ramos, Chiellini, Falcao.

Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Zlatan, Casillias, Mascherano, Cesc, would all be thereabouts

if others want to name their World Class players, id love to see it.

    ---------- Post added December-28th-2012 at 10:56 AM ----------

The talk of tactics is largely misleading. If it were tactics over players then teams with great managers would win the league. Tactics are overrated. And there's no secret cutting edge tactics to the game that , say, sir Alex knows that Jose mou doesn't.

ok, so if it isnt tactics and its players, then why are Premiership teams getting their butts kicked in Europe the last few seasons? Especially since they have all these top players you keep talking about?

    ---------- Post added December-28th-2012 at 10:59 AM ----------

Indeed, and it took me getting into working with soccer to begin to appreciate the sport rather than the American caricature of it.

He did really well, finished the season as the team's starting keeper and the coach moved him to mid-fielder as well, but he's gotten a taste for the dirt and loves keeper. His team won the regular season championship, but there was no post season. There was however a tournament that we played in, but we got flat smoked by some travel teams that had 3/4's of their team two years older than our team, so that was a bit of a downer. But, we are looking at the potential of building a year-round youth team, but not wreck league, we need players who are committed.

    All-in-all a good season though.

thats wsup, congratulations. Im glad he won.

  11. Just ridiculous. You are seriously claiming that there are just four world class players in the EPL. :ols: How many do you think are in the other top leagues?

No Hart, Suarez, Balotelli, Vermaelen or Aguero , to name five. Or Rooney or Bale or Mata or Giroud or Cisse.

EDIT: nevermind. It's pointless discussing with you.

apologies, I forgot about him. Kun Aguero is def a guy who is world class.

The rest of those names tho :ols:

Vermaelen is a painfully average centerback who is probably 3rd best at Arsenal, and I say this as an Arsenal fan. Giroud and Cisse? :ols: Joe Hart? :hysterical:

The rest of those names are ridiculous.

Compare the names I mentioned from 4-5 years ago and look at the names you tried to pass off as world class. Not even in the same stratosphere.

That doesnt mean the premier league isnt entertaining, but their has been a decline in star talent over the last 5 years. A major decline.

    a) The Guardian is based where?

    B) do yourself a favor and look at some of the names on that list.

Gerrard Pique has been doo doo since he started dating Shakira and he made their top 25. Patrice Evra also. The worst name mentioned is Diego Forlan who is struggling to score for Internacional. Puyol mentioned as well and at 34 despite being injured most of the last 3 years, lol.

The only thing I will give them props for is putting Xavi over Iniesta, but thats it. That list is horrible.

    ---------- Post added December-28th-2012 at 10:02 AM ----------

And Spain is in second with 23.

12 are on barca, 10 on RM. Leaving ONE one some other random team in la liga. And it is better? Sure Barca and RM are amazing and two of the top teams in the world, if not the top two... but two power teams in the league don't make it the best league.

who said La Liga is better? But the true world class players are in that league.

The premiership is the most entertaining league in the world, but its lacking football wise, imo. I think Bundesliga is a better league, and technically the Serie A has it.

Shoot, even looking at La Liga, you can rag on that league all you want but their top 4 teams would give the two Manchester squads a great match and would be favored over the other three or four top four contenders

They have also been more successful than the premiership in Europa League/UEFA Cup over the last 5 seasons.

  12. More of the top players are in the EPL compared with any other league. While other leagues have a handful of outstanding clubs and players, there is greater depth in the EPL than in other leagues.

Claiming that the EPL "is kind of a joke", is just ridiculous.

I think the Premiership is kind of a joke. The top of the league is terrible.

One of the best players in the league this season came from a club that was 15th place in Spain.

Look at the league, who are the world class players? RVP, Yaya, Silva, Sagna, and Maybe Vidic depending on his health, but that is pretty much it. The league can be won with weak midfields, look at Manchester United.

And of course the top players are only at a handful of clubs, that was true in the premiership too? The top players were at United, Chelsea, City, and Liverpool.

All I know is 4 years ago, the premiership had players at the peak of their powers like Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand, Nmanja Vidic, Pepe Reina, Edwin Van der Sar, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard, Claude Makelele, Michael Essian, Ashley Cole, Patrice Evra, the racist captain of Chelsea and thats off the top of my head. Those guys were world class talents playing in the league all at the same time.

If you want the league of stars, they play in Spain. The best foreign players do not play in the premiership anymore.

Nah' date=' its all a wash. Outside of a handful of teams, its mediocrity all over the place. [/quote']

I dont know what this means.

    Thats not a bad thing' date=' imo.[/quote']

thats fair, but you should direct that to Corcaigh, not me. He is the one saying the premiership has all the foreign stars.

    Now thats funny :ols:

its true. That summer of 2009' date=' the league changed. I am not saying its all because of Cronaldo leaving, but their has been a steep decline in talent in the premiership.

    ---------- Post added December-27th-2012 at 07:09 PM ----------

I am aware of who Arlo is

He did the US Women's games and he does the MLS games for NBC Sports Network

He is fine but he is no Ian Darke. Ian Darke is possibly the best soccer broadcaster in the world.

Different strokes for different folks, but Arlo is a lot more knowledgeable of the sport than Ian Darke, imo. And his voice is so smooth.

  13. Eh what is the justification for that comment on tactics?

Look at the influx of the best foreign players and the best foreign managers in the EPL.

The premiership is behind the rest of Europe tactically, imo

And the best foreign players and managers do not reside in England anymore.

The league has been on a decline since Cronaldo was sold, imo.

  14. It will be a sad day when EPL rights transfer to NBC and Darkey and Macca no longer call EPL games

I suggest you listen to a game with Arlo White. Arlo White>>>>Ian Darke

I think football coverage in this country will explode when NBC gets it. They present sports better than every other network we have in this country. They have done a great job with MLS this year.

    ---------- Post added December-27th-2012 at 12:15 PM ----------

Even as a huge fan of the sport, I don't particularly care for mic outside epl. Serie a bores me, la liga is kinda cruddy outside of the top two, and we can't get much else. I do like Dortmund in Germany and some teams in holland.

I love it all, I love Serie A. The premiership is kind of a joke to me now. The top teams arent that good and no one can defend anymore. Tactics have been thrown out the window too.

  15. I think we need Nene pretty desperately. He's the only good player on the team. The only one who knows what good basketball actually feels like. The only one who knows how to be a professional and hasn't been totally ruined by EG.

**** this front office. I hope we break the record for worst season ever. I wish there was something active that fans could do to make that stupid ******* Leonsis grow a damn pair and fire Ernie.

Nene has a bad contract that will only get worse.

I get that he is a professional and good, but thats a horrible contract.

Young good big man on his rookie deal>>>>>old good big man on bad contracts who have an injury history.
