  1. Is Sam going to save the Commanders and force them into a draft spot where OL is clear BPA?
  2. If Harrison Jr is your choice round 1:
  3. No trade back scenario rounds 1-3: Trade back in the 1st round scenario rounds 1-3:
  4. Players are coached to fit into schemes more than they're taught fundamentals that translate across any scheme. I've heard a few recently retired players speak about this. It leads to a lot more sloppy play, in addition to practice schedules and contact in practice changes. Brady isn't wrong.
  5. Although my perspective is different, I appreciate your input. Which games for Alt made you feel this way? I'd like to look into it more. You're saying he struggles against bull rushers? Your perspective of Fashanu is the first I've heard as well. I like it though, because it makes me go back and check the film in more detail. If there's any games you recommend for your analysis, I'll check them out. The top 2 OTs have been unanimously heralded from what I've seen up until your post. From the film I've seen, theyre both excellent prospects and near sure locks to lockdown the LT spot for a decade. Maybe I've fallen into group thinking and missed something.
  6. Powers-Johnson shows some of the similar open field blocking reps you see from Van Pran. Powers-Johnson is a bit more intentional in his combo blocking in the run game. His anchoring isn’t as smooth as Van Pran, but it is still effective.
  7. Powers-Johnson and Van Pran are my early projected top two Centers the Commanders may be in position to draft day 2 or 3. This tape is prior to Van Pran's Senior film this year; where he has grown. A 4 year contributor, 3 year starter on the Georgia OL. He has strengths with some reps showing athleticism completing open field blocks. He has reps where he anchors smoothly and attaches to his defender, with good hand positioning. He has room to grow and be coached up, but I like his pedigree and experience at C.
  8. IF the Commanders choose to go that route, it will require a GM with foresight and a fortunate FA haul in the OL room.
  9. You would have to bury your head in the sand to not see the film or analytics about this OL being epically bad. Asking me like it's some secret report is kind of funny.
  10. Yes, the draft process can be unpredictable. I've seen reports with him anywhere from late round 1 to late round 3. Maybe enough guys have super combines that move football players like Beebe down a bit.
  11. Technically or literally that many sacks is also a failure by an OL room. The tape backs it up. If the Commanders convince themselves it's actually the WRs, QB, TEs, defense etc. that should be a priority, I won't be surprised. You have holes at both Edges, LB, CB, and possibly S on defense; and the big boys don't just have guys, they have depth; so the Commanders have a lot of work to do on team building. I am simply stating my personal opinion. I would follow Green Bay's approach when they neglected rooms on their roster, and go heavy handed to turn that room into a room with tons of youth and depth. Especially when there were drafts with extra talent in those positions. The Commanders don't have to follow that attack plan when it's right there for them to do. Who will be the GM is the question.
  12. Gates, Charles, Larsen, Wylie, and Paul all have been rated in the bottom 10 at various points throughout the season. I don't stockpile those reports when they come out, but this has been commentary given by commentators in the games as well.
  13. The Commanders have 5 of the bottom 10 OL in the NFL. The Commanders are on pace to break sack records. The Commanders can't run the ball on 3rd or 4th and short with BRob in the backfield, because your OL can't block. Your OL room is the definition of a disaster. I disagree that drafting 3/4 of the 25 best OL in one of the best OL draft classes in a few years being a disaster for the leagues worst OL room. Yes there will be growing pains, but you are getting kicked in the balls currently every week by your OL play. The pain of change won't be greater than the pain of staying the same.
  14. I've watched game tapes of Beebe as well, and he wins his reps consistently and smartly. He is a great teammate when it comes to combo blocks, chipping, passing rushers off, and picking up blitzers. Everything the Commanders offense doesn't have. He's a top 20 OL in this year's deep OL class. I see him as a great fit for the Commanders on day 2 or 3, depending on the draft process.
  15. If you do that, with Harrison Jr, your next 3 picks better be OL, and you better have a FA signing at LT that is an improvement. I like Harrison Jr so I get it, but you have to go something like Powers-Johnson, Paul, and Beebe next three picks in order to not completely waste Harrison Jr's potential.
  16. I agree with the Commanders spending in FA for their defense. Go heavy on the OL in the draft. A competent GM can do that with 90 million and all those picks. Another incompetent GM will waste it.
  17. Howell and the Commanders are in a fortunate position with the OL talent this year. The way those top 100 picks are set up, the team will likely in position to get the best of the LT, RT, LG, AND C talent. Take your pick, or pick them all, but it'll be there for the taking. In the extreme outcome where the Commanders bring in 3 or 4 of these top OL guus, I see the chances of Howell having a breakout year next year increase substantially. That's the biggest impact possibility vs. any other addition to the roster (QB, TE, DE, etc.).
  18. Packers drafted Musgrave and Kraft out of last year's deep TE class, and that room went from an afterthought to actually a reliable outlet for Love immediately. I personally believe Howell, or any other QB, will look a lot different when they have professional level protection. The Commanders offense is panic mode every rep because the OL is so bad. I laugh at some of the heat Howell, the RBs, WRs, and even EB gets from fans, because I don't think we really comprehend how ridiculously bad this OL is.
  19. A few years ago the Packers were rightfully called out by Aaron Rodgers for neglecting their WR and TE rooms. Since then, the team has went heavy handed on both rooms, and the Packers WR and TE rooms are now deep with youth and talent developing together. The Commanders would be wise to take a similar approach with the OL. The Commanders goal should be bringing in 3 of the top 15 OL, if not 4 of the top 25, in the upcoming draft class. This is the perfect draft class to revamp an OL. There is great LT, RT, LG, and C talent set up to be there at each of the Commanders picks. Don't get cute. Don't over think it. Your OL room is likely the weakest in the NFL. This is a draft class with tons of OL talent. Get 4 of those top 25 OL: a scenario, for example, where you bring in Fashanu, Paul, Powers-Johnson, and Beebe changes the trajectory of your franchise.
  20. Absolutely AJ is running a lot better than earlier in the year. The fact Jones still has a good chance to come back after that injury is crazy to me. If Jones can come back, while Dillon is running like this, with the passing game finally taking off, we will see this offense look even better. Jones big play element out of the backfield is the last missing piece. You are spot on about the miscues. It's almost like Watson had to prove to himself he belongs, and he clearly believes now. Similar with guys like Wicks and Heath. It went from a surprise that they made plays to now they're expecting it. I loved when #10 went right back to Heath after the drop last night. There is some real chemistry growing in the passing game. The team is still so young; though, and they may shrink up on the big stage of the playoffs. Still I hope they at least get the chance to play in a playoff game, because it adds invaluable experience to such a young roster.
  21. Love and the young offense getting confidence at the right time. No one picked the Packers to win this game on the pregame show. The end of the season will be interesting with this schedule.
  22. I suffered through a lot more than this. Like you and others, I have endured the past 30 years of chaos. My fanhood has been declining for years and several times I've taken a break from watching the team all together. It is like living in another world watching other teams and how they go about doing things. I know Chase got push back for comments about San Fran bring different, but deep down, even the most die hard fan knows he's telling the truth. Washington just has to slander and bad mouth players on the way out to feel better about themselves. I have a few players on the team I'll always root for, but to me, Harris is showing signs that he will continue the chaos so I'm jumping ship. Still my hometown team, but there's better football out there to follow. I never insulted you. You are the one who attempted making the conversation personal, and you even admitted and apologized. I told the uncomfortable truth about the TEAM, but I never said anything personal. Weird twist you're trying to do, but I've kept it football. Such as Toohill and Smith-Williams generating ZERO pressure last week. Remember I told you that you'll see what soft edges look like now? This is just the beginning, and fans will be clamoring for a big money FA or high draft pick edge rusher sooner than you think.
  23. I have talked football on this site nearly 20 years, and I'll continue to. I'm in the Around the NFL forum which doesn't violate rules. Yes, I was a Skins fan, but I got tired of rooting for a league chump. Everywhere else I talk football Commanders fans are fed up. Only here is everyone pretending Washington didn't just get worked over. That kinda petty culture is part of your losing. You can't be one of the sorriest franchises in sports and carry a condescending petty spiteful attitude, but somehow that's Washington.
  24. You're right. Word is Harris is going to buy a new team this off-season with that $90 million cap space. Welcome to 1999.
