  1. What a freaking joke. Soto doesn’t make the All Star game, but Jeff McNeil from the Meta does?  ****ing ridiculous.

So, why are you wasting your time and energy on the smallness of our minds here on ES? Whay aren't you dropping Volbombs and stealing Woj's thunder?

You have an opinion and think mighty highly of the. But they are just opinions. You know what they say about opinions?

    ^^^ Proving my point...

It's a cycle with Davey.  When you do well, he saddles you up and uses you over and over and over until you fail. Then he complains in the media that guys have to get outs, he doesn't know what else to do. Should a manager ever say something like that in the media, much less multiple times in the early season?

    So far:

-Doolittle has been used more to this point in a season than he ever has

-Suero is being used for multiple innings in consecutive games (sometimes 5 innings in 3 games)

-Rainey was used in 3 consecutive games to begin his MLB career, without anyone knowing how he would respond

Barraclough being trotted out for a second inning, and then replaced by an overused Suero (when the beat reporters are tweeting that he looks dead in his warm-up pitches you have a problem).

I understand that the pen has been BAD (historically so) to start the year, but Davey plays in a role in how that happened.  The relievers had their issues with him last year, and then this spring there were whispers about their use in ST. PC gets fired partially because of how the pen is performing. RP are going to other organizations and thriving - Kelley, Treinen... Dusty wasn't the best manager of the pen, but at least with him and Maddox you knew they were getting the best out of them.  With Davey, do you honestly feel like he is both putting the RP in the best position to be successful AND managing the pen the best way it can be managed?  I think the obvious answer to both questions is a resounding NO.

My point was people are so quick to second guess Davey on every bullpen move when it doesn’t work. I’ll bet you can find in this thread criticism for overusing Doolittle or for using Grace in high pressure situations.  It’s easy to second guess when things don’t work, but when you have exactly one reliable bullpen arm, it’s tough for him to be right more than wrong.

    Suero is being over used...

As far as not being tactically prepared the vids from the Christchurch shooting sure appeared to be tactically well planned, but that’s from a novices perspective...

And how would America banning any semi rifle have ANY impact on mass shootings conducted, I don’t know, NOT IN AMERICA?!?

Additionally, going into an enclosed environment with few egress points is like shooting fish in a barrel. That doesn’t make it tactically well planned, just slightly researched.

Yeah, I do sometimes wonder if you took a mass shooting, and replaced the shooter's weapons with a semi-auto pistol and 20 magazines, would it really make that much difference?

The impression I get is that most mass shootings don't happen that far away.

(Las Vegas being an obvious exception).

Velocity. Non-fatal wounds with a 9mm round become fatal with the cavitation caused by the high velocity round. Reducing the velocity of civilian .223 rounds would help.

  6. I don’t understand MLB umps. Strasburg has been DOMINANT and he isn’t getting borderline pitches. Braves RP comes in and throws 4 straight balls that are nowhere close to a strike, then gets 3 consecutive borderline pitches to end the inning. ANY of those called a ball and no one even thinks twice about it because he has been so wild. Meanwhile a SP is throwing BBs and not getting the same calls...

Eaton is really annoying me lately

missed the cutoff man in the bottom of the inning, allowing runners to advance, then gets picked off 1st easily the following inning

In his defense, that move was 100% a balk. Shoulder and body going home, ball has to go home. Unfortunately, LHP get away with MURDER on pickoff moves ever since Andy Pettite basically shredded the rule book...

  8. We saw 2 years ago, a bullpen is good when the RP have defined roles. Kintzler-Madson-Doolittle were good in the 7-8-9 role. Madson WAS NOT good in the 9th role. Doolittle WAS NOT good in the 8th role. Kintzler WAS NOT good in the 8th or 9th role. Having Suero pitch in the 6th one night, the 6th & 7th the next night, the 8th in his next appearance, the 5th in the one after that never lets a guy get comfortable with his role. There are position players that play best when they play the same position everyday. Move them to a different position, and they think and then go into a funk. Same applies to RP, they want a defined role (obvious that days off alter roles slightly).

  9. So Davey has a rookie, making his second appearance of the season, throw 33 freaking pitches in the 2nd of back to back appearances? Doolittle is rested and available and you hang the season on a rookie working his 2nd inning in the 2nd of back to back appearances?  Do you need any more reason to ****ing fire this clown?  Oh wait, Wander Suero is asked to pitch 2 innings.  Wander Suero isn't the RP to trot out for 2 innings.

    Speaking of the Mets:

A bad season continues to get worse for the New York Mets.

The team announced Monday that outfielder Yoenis Cespedes fractured his ankles in an accident on his ranch, likely ending his season.

Cespedes was in an accident on his ranch and fractured his ankles. He is being evaluated in NYC.

    — Mike Puma (@NYPost_Mets) May 20, 2019

Cespedes was already out after surgery on both his heels last July, and it was entirely possible that he wouldn’t have played in 2019 anyway. The double ankle fracture should more or less obliterate any chances of a return.

The Mets currently sit at 20-25, and a season with high expectations from within the organization quickly looks to be going south. This is only going to make the situation look more hopeless.
