Tottenham Hotspurs fan here. I try to keep up with them when I can. I love their name, guess that's why I became a fan. Of course DC United also. I have a friend from Sheffield, England who is a big Sheffield United fan.

I actually see a fair amount of walking and standing around in LAX and Soccer. Usually when the ball is in the offensive end in LAX, I know a certain number of players cannot cross the midfield line. In soccer, it would be stupid to bring everyone forward, so most defenders lay back. I watch alot of LAX on CBSSports on Satellite channel 613 and even when the ball is in the offensive end, the defenders have to keep position, so they aren't doing much running. Same in soccer. If the ball is on the other side of the field, you have to remain in position. I will agree that the ball moves faster in LAX (just because it's a smaller ball), but both games when you look at them both, are very similar in the design of scoring. And I like to watch both sports and I'm pretty good at knowing the rules/strategies of both.

Nothing like loading the bases down by 4 runs with the pitcher coming up. Either they strike out or try to sacrafice. I don't like a good rally snuffed out by a guy hitting .136 on the season. I'd rather have a light hitting second baseman/shortstop hitting .240. But how many times does this "strategy" come up in a game? The wave of sports is offense in this country. The DH provides offense. That's why American's for the most part are not soccer fans and Hockey has not been embraced as much as Football and Basketball. Oh, you pay the pitcher to "pitch", not hit. That's why his position is not called "hitter."

Problem with the Anti-DH people are that they can bring up a few pitchers here and there that can actually hit. But I guarantee if you combined all the pitchers in both leagues and came up with an average, it would be below .200. The DH extends careers for some guys. Even if a DH is not the best hitter average wise, he can hit HRs. I mean some DH's hit .225, but will belt 35+ HRs. Plus, it protects pitchers from getting hit. On the flip side, the bench is more meaningful in the NL and pitchers can't headhunt because they know they'll get beaned. I've always been a DH guy. I'd rather have a productive .200 hitter than a non-prodcutive .200 hitter. Actually, I'm a speed guy. I loved the 80's with Henderson, Tim Raines and most the Cardinals team who could steal bases and hit triples. Two plays I love in Baseball are a triple or a stolen base.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but I wonder what Shanahan will choose as the home uniforms? Shotty, Spurrier preferred the Burg at home. Gibbs was mostly White at home. Zorn went Burg in the cold, White in the heat.

I don't have an "official" inside information, just what has been throw around in here per Larry Michael that Zorn wanted to do a half and half season of white and burgundy. It may be true that he changed his mind for the Dallass game which means we'll get white for the first 5 games, but if the colors were already set in July, then he may need to petition the commish and have Dallass agree to the change.
