  1. What a dirty play. That's a penalty and a fine in football. Horrible.
  2. 6 turnovers for Wells. 2 for Layman. 1 for Trimble. I'll amend my statement about Wells having some. He's had most of them. He's on his way to a cripple double.
  3. Wells has had some of them. But as a team, just not smart decisions.
  4. Finally, Wells and Layman on the same page. I don't know what it is, but one of them always zigs, while the other zags.
  5. Yeah, brutal no call there. So far, MD is continuing there trend of not playing defense and letting everyone shoot open shots. Dez Wells has shown he can beat his man whenever he wants. He just isn't making his shots.
  6. I always fear the mid major in the tournament. I'd much rather play the traditional names, than a school trying to make its name against you.
  7. Yeah, there is a reason he is open. Valpo probably claps every time he takes a shot.
  8. No there are new refs for each game. But that doesn't change the fact they still stink.
  9. This game is being horribly officiated. Not just that block, which gave Valpo 4 fouls shots and Dodd on the bench, but the goaltending when Trimble was fouled. Just awful calls affecting actual points being scored.
  10. Ah. That makes sense. Good for him for honoring her. Goofballs like me may think it looks strange, but he's honoring her on a big stage.Edit: I just looked it up. His Aunt died unexpectedly last week. He is honoring her. That is awesome of him to do that.
  11. Did Pack lose a bet? What's with the hair? He looks like a smaller Rodman out there.
  12. I'm always worried about Tournament games. the fact that Valpo has a big and can shoot the 3, is scary. But that's like 90% of the teams MD played this year. I just hope MD can grab defensive rebounds and not give up 2nd chance points. There's nothing worse than playing good D, getting the guy to miss s tough shot, then giving up an offensive rebound that's kicked out for an open 3.
  13. I rooted against every ACC team, at least the ones in NC and VA. The other ones were meh. But being in the B1G, I'm rooting for all those teams to do well. As stated, there is no real rival and no one to really hate (yet!). Especially for this tournament, since MD was just "lucky to pile up close wins in a bad conference" and couldn't pass the selection committee's "eye test", I'd love for the B1G to do great. The Big 12 was supposed to be so great and got all these great seeds, yet they suck so far. That causes me to pull even harder for the B1G teams.
  14. I don't know if someone in the Redskins demanded the show be cancelled. However, Reid preemptively burned his bridge to working for anything Redskins. Normally you hear about burning bridges when you leave, but Reid managed to burn his bridge to get there. Professionalism is non existent to many in the media, as it's more important to get your name out there, than it is to get facts correct. If he treated the organization and other media members with respect (wasn't he the one who got into a physical confrontation last year), people might actually want to listen to him.
  15. Yeah, I was ready to complain about that too, thinking they got it over Wisconsin. But I don't know if Arizona should be there over Duke. But they did get the benefit of the doubt because of their name.
  16. I just saw the interview with the selection committee head. He said "eye test" about 6 million times. He might as well have said "We are the gods of basketball selection. What we say goes. We and we alone decide who is good and who is not. Do not question the almighty selection committee." Oh, and he also ducked the question about MD. He slurped Georgetown instead for his answer.
  17. MD is better than all other #4 seeds. Somehow the head to head win against Iowa St holds no water. There was a major Big 12 bias in the seedings.
  18. Well, that's one head scratcher. Oklahoma a 3?
  19. Dang! MD got a tough draw. I'm curious to see who the other #3 seeds are, since they bumped MD to 4.
  20. The officiating was brutal. A few phantom calls at key times. Two huge ones. One, where a MSU player lost the ball on his own without contact. Another in the last few minutes, where Wells had a clean block of a layup, but instead of MD getting the ball back down late, MSU was sent to the foul line. It was a very poorly officiated game. That's not why MD lost. They lost because they didn't make shots in the 2nd half. But that doesn't change the fact that the officiating was still terrible.
  21. The officiating was brutal, but so was MDs offense in the 2nd half. It was bad in the first half, but MD overcame it. Was Graham hurt? I don't remember him playing. He can at least jump and tries to play defense, unlike Smotrycz. That guy makes a couple of shots and somehow that makes him exempt from being pulled for not rebounding or playing D.
  22. Good first half. MD has to continue to execute on offense. They got a little stagnant, but got it going again. I'm happy with an 8 point lead at halftime.
  23. Watching last night, I definitely noticed a more professionalism to the B1G tournament. I don't know what it was like being there in person, but I can tell you from my personal experience at the ACC tournament, Maryland fans were never welcome there. In the ACC, if you aren't a fan of UNC, Duke, or NCST, you are considered an outsider and not welcome. This was especially true for MD fans because of all the torment their teams caused in the late 90s and early 2000s. When I was at the Tournament in 2004, I was elbowed in the back by some woman in her 50s as I was celebrating MDs last second victory over Wake Forest in the 1st round. It was strange she would do that, but the more tournaments I went to, the more I saw how unwelcome anyone was that was not rooting for the teams NC teams. Yes, they would harass and yell at each other, but the one common ground they all had was their hate for all teams outside of the state.
  24. Much, much better defense in the 2nd half. Maryland did a great job cutting off the driving lanes and getting in the face of the 3 point shooters. Indiana's only offense was getting offensive rebounds, which drove me nuts as well. Maryland could have won this game by 20 if they got more defensive rebounds. Some of them were hustle rebounds too. The officiating in the 2nd half was brutal. Wells was getting beat up constantly on offense, but not fouls called. Then the phantom foul late on Smotrycz that let Indiana cut it two. Not since pee wee ball have a seen a ref call a foul because a guy wouldn't let someone dribble out of the corner. Bring on MSU. I want MD to go through the toughest, biggest basketball names in the B1G. This team has shown they can beat anyone. I want them going into the tournament with that confidence that they can beat anyone.
  25. MD has to play defense. Too much standing around watching guys with and without the ball go right by them. That's also led to too many offensive rebounds. I like what I'm seeing on offense. I like they were going inside early. A couple of tough passes to Dodd and a few he couldn't catch. But I'd keep going inside and make Indiana work down there. Trimble and Wells, what more can you say. They are great and fun to watch.
