This defense just reacts. No pressure, no turnovers. Just guys running totally free in the secondary...like what are we doing on defense? Our LB core being exploited as usual.
Great play by 29 there.

Sadly, it's NOT that incredible. It's actually quite predictable.
I know. It's completely predictable. I was typing it before we even ran the play. That's how consistent it is. But again, I think our coaching and scheme on both sides of the ball is really awful. Neither Turner nor del Rio should be coordinators in this league.

The problem with this team is coaching. We just don't have any creativity or intelligence on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. We are totally out-schemed by every "modern" team we play. It's embarrassing at this point. There's talent on this team, but our coaches don't get the most out of it. This needs to be Rivera's last season. I've seen enough.

Can't stop 3rd down conversions on D and can't convert on offense. I mean nothing has changed with this team. It's really incredible.

Watching the KC offensive and its creativity makes me realize how awful Scott Turner is.

Jesus--this defense is terrible at every position. Really incredible that Del Rio is still employed.

Like i said--automatic first! Playing man to man and no jam on the receiver. Lovely scheme Del Rio.

Not Del Rio's fault Sweat whiffs the sack and Curl leaves his zone
It kind of is. This defense is totally undisciplined and has been for Del Rio's entire tenure.

Here comes third and long = automatic first

We need better offensive and defensive coordinators.

If you think ball security in between 6-8 diesel truck sized men and returning kicks with a bunch of 200 pounders spread out is the same difference I have some swamp land in Florida for sale.
We are going to see with Gibson. They put too much pressure on him too quickly by shoehorning him into a role he isn't suited for. Now, the fumbling ball security is as much mental as it is anything else, and unless we get to the core of the issue and he fixes it, it will absolutely show itself on special teams.

No.
He returned kicks in college. He didn't take handoffs and run between the tackles on a down to down basis.
I know he returned kickoffs (not punts) in college. I just think Gibson has a confidence issue and i dont think special teams is returning kicks in high pressure situations is the place to put him to get that confidence back. Also, holding on to the ball as a between the tackles runner or as a kick returner is one and the same. If you have an issue holding it, it will be an issue in both places, in my view.

Kinda nice having a 1000+ yd playmaker on the team, and if he turns our spec teams into something special, well now that would be special.
He has a place in the offense as well. Line him and BRob in the back field and release him into the flat while BRob blocks or creates diversion.
To hand him the ball and ask him to pound between the tackles is a waste.
The only trade to be considered is AG and Payne for Roquan straight up.
I dont want to do either with Gibson. He's skilled and valuable, but the fumbling needs to be fixed. Tiki Barber managed to do it. Hold the ball high and tight--with two hands in traffic. This is all about repetition. Make him carry that ball around like in the Program and have teammates try to dislodge it.

Kick returns could be the thing that saves Gibsons career. 3rd down back and return guy is a pretty great role for him.
PT on offense used correctly and STer is perfect.
Gibson, Samuels, Dotson are all pretty dynamic returners.
I dont know how i feel about taking Gibson who has an uncorrected fumbling problem, and putting him on STs as a returner. Sounds like a disaster.

And I'm back...hope you've all been well, etc., etc...
Dotson and Cole Turner...
That is all my friends.

Defend him all you want. He's awful.

make it 3 ST coach
You're right--special teams has been a disaster this year but it gets lost in the shuffle with how badly the offense and defense have performed. The coaching is horrific: the same basic fundamental mistakes week after week. When was the last time this team surprised you in a good way in any phase of the game?

Where are all of the Scott Turner supporters? This is one of the most pathetic and unforgivable gameplans I've seen from him. He's just not up to the task: he has zero, and I mean zero in game sense; cant call a series of plays to save his life and has no ability to adjust in-game to what the defense is doing. I'm so sick of watching this crap.
The fact that Rivera can't see he has two terrible coordinators means he's not a good coach. There, I said it.

Just soft zone nonsense by Del Rio. Literally out-schemed on every single play. We don't even belong on the field. Truly embarrassing.
