I know it's impossible, but I really wish they could have brought the entire first team out to go win the game.  Have Wentz launch one to Terry or Dotson just to stomp on the Raven's stupid preseason record.  Then take a piss at mid-field.

You realize almost none of the players committing those penalties will actually have a job in football in about 5 days, right?

Yeah I realize that. I’ve been watching football all my life. You know what else I realize? Baltimore’s a well coached team. You didn’t see their third and 4th string guys make boneheaded penalty after boneheaded penalty. Wanna know why?  Bc they expect discipline and effort from who ever is on the roster for as long as they are on the roster.

This team will come out and perform just like it did in the preseason in week 1. Move the ball a bit and stall in the red zone bc Scott Turner has zero creativity or feel for playcalling and then fall behind because the defense can’t get off the field.

Im just so sick of it.

It’s safe to say this organization has been trying to build a top tier defense.

    Great job on that 😂

But without any linebackers and secondary guys. The d line needs time to get there. We give all receivers free releases and in man we can’t keep up and in zone we get destroyed. It’s a horrific scheme.

Rivera himself was involuntary unemployed at the  time he got to this team, too. He owns all this.

I completely agree with this.  It's hard to watch.  This entire staff is clueless and you can tell the players know it.  When guys know they are not being put in a position to succeed, they stop believing and their play is flat and uninspired.

    I agree.

If you read this thread and didn't watch the game, you would think Washington was losing 56-0. :806:

I think they haven't done too bad considering the Chiefs are most likely a Super Bowl contender (they always are with an MVP QB like Mahomes running things) and the Commanders aren't.

    I'm not really disappointed.

Don’t worry there will be time to be really disappointed during the regular season. This was just preseason disappointment.

If that happens, the entire staff should be let go.  It'll be proof they're building nothing (major injury occurrences aside, of course).

Ron has everything and I mean everything on his side going into this year.  3rd year, starters on D unchanged from last year, so zero excuses not to be on the same page, 6th easiest schedule in the league, next to no hot-shot QBs to worry about, has his hand-picked QB that he professes to love.  Scott Turner has a bunch of very good (if not great) weapons at his disposal who all know his system.  He's out of excuses, too.

If we should look like this during the season (like we did the last two years) then Ron should be in hot water.  It's his show, his hand-picked crew on an off the field.

I just can't stand the excuse of "we probably won't get anyone better".  That may be true - heck, I believe it is true,  but you're a total loser organization if you let that stop you from holding the current regime accountable.  Cinci lost a billion years holding onto Lewis because they were afraid he was the best they could do.  Are we going to do the same for Ron IF his team doesn't show that 3rd year leap with everything set up for them to do that very thing?  Because I thought the objective was to - at the very minimum - field a consistent winning team (and that means truly winning 10+ games, not this technical game above .500 crap, and eventually win SBs....

Agree with all of this except the hot water part. He should just be gone if he doesn’t produce show serious strides this year. I think he will be bc he’s either too loyal or not bright enough (or both) to realize what a liability both of his coordinators are.

I know Andy Reid said this week that he was using Week 2 as the dress rehearsal instead of the normal Week 3 most teams use.  Was there any word if that changed Rivera's approach to the game?  I believe in his other seasons here he maintained the Week 3 norm.

good point. My guess is that Reid’s theories of when the dress rehearsal is wouldn’t impact Rivera’s approach…at least I hope not.

I'm still iffy on Turner as OC (I don't even need to reiterate my disbelief in JDR at this point, yeah?).  It still feels like a very old-school designed offense and while adding speed is going to help, like it would for any coordinator, it still seems too horizontal.  Maybe the offense is holding the downfield throwing back during the preseason the way the Chiefs don't need to due to being a known commodity, but either no one is getting open downfield, Wentz isn't 100% comfortable in the scheme yet, or they just aren't calling the big plays until Week 1.

ive seen enough of Turner to know that he’s not the right guy. He has no feel for in game playcalling and his scheme just doesn’t take advantage of matchups the way modern schemes do.
